triad.bizjournals.com/triad/stories/2009/11/09/daily76.htmlA&T totals $58 million in research funds N.C. A&T State University brought in $57.7 million in research funding in the most recent fiscal year, according to an announcement from the university. It was the fifth consecutive year that N.C. A&T had the third-highest amount of research funding in the 16-school University of North Carolina system, ranking behind only UNC-Chapel Hill and N.C. State. Research funding at A&T in the previous year was $45.8 million. A&T's School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences had the highest total research funding at $16.3 million, followed by the College of Engineering with $14.1 million. "This continues to be an exceptional achievement for our university," said Chancellor Harold Martin. "It shows our commitment to excellence in both academics and research. In today's educational environment, one must support the other for the university to achieve its goals of preparing our students for their places in the 21st century."

Awesome....
Too bad we have to share that research funding that new Gateway center will provide with UNCG.

I hope we are all watching closely. There is a reason for increases in funding. Money doesn’t just fall out of the sky. Congrats to the team and their efforts. But make sure were not selling our soul. Not being negative but not being naive.

But make sure were not selling our soul. Not being negative but not being naive. There is a big reason why the crosstown sister school use their political power to partner with A&T in those advance research schools being built on A&T's farm land. A$T is The landgrant technical/science/engineering school.

Hey Aggiebred09, please explain your last statement. Its pretty self explanatory. Where is the money coming from, where is it going, and how does it line up with our core values and strengthening our University. Are we we so caught up in the dollar that we dont care what its doing? Are we really raising money for A&T or for the dream of some white school to one day be in a position to capitalize on naive people believing in "The Greatest Homecoming on Earth"? Seek to understand. Then be understood.

Huh? How did you get all of that from the above article? All I got from the article is that we raise money. But for what? And how is it helping A&T overall? I don't see more students coming to A&T for undergrad because of research. I don't hear any more about the top graduates in the fields of Business and Engineering. So what is all this money doing for A&T? How is it helping faculty students and staff overcome this recession. Yes were raising more money. But were also raising tuition. I'm just saying.
