Weeks after vote, NSU president faces scrutiny
Carolyn Meyers was the subject of a rare special meeting in which Meyers was the subject of a lengthy "personnel matter" discussion. Closed meetingThe university’s Board of Visitors held a special session last week about a “personnel matter” related to NSU President Carolyn Meyers, shown at right. Board members declined to say what was discussed, but sources say Meyers is on the hot seat. Mixed reviews Critics of Meyers say she has not moved quickly enough to make changes at the school since she took over in July 2006. Others say she has plans in place to make the necessary improvements. What’s nextThe Board of Visitors will meet in another closed session within the next 40 days to further discuss Meyers, who is under contract until June 30, 2011 . By Denise Watson Batts The Virginian-Pilot © October 24, 2009 NORFOLKSeven weeks ago, Norfolk State University President Carolyn Meyers received a unanimous vote of confidence from the university's Board of Visitors. Last week, the board held a rare special meeting in which Meyers was the subject of a lengthy "personnel matter" discussion. What happened in that seven-week window isn't clear, but sources close to NSU say Meyers, who is in her fourth year as president, is on the hot seat. Interesting....
My big question (and maybe that of others) is that if only 6-weeks ago, the Board was behind Myers, and now there is an "issue" of some sorts....then what happened between then and now for them to switch up like that?
But I know one thing is for certain if a school president doesn't have the support of their board then they are as good as done...

Or Chancellor ;D
Hmmm...this sounds eerily similar to a situation that occured at a Greensboro NC HBCU just a few years ago! We don't know all of the details yet, but it sounds like this is another case of a BOT needing to "get a life" and recognizing that it's not about the BOT, it's about the students!
