Dear Coach Eaves,
Please reschedule the start of your annual Blue and Gold scrimmage this year.
When you schedule this event at 10 AM on a Saturday morning you are not exactly endearing yourself to fans who might want to come out and support the team.
The last couple of times you have held these early morning scrimmages, you have drawn an average of about 40 people - including your staff, the players themselves, and a few local homeless people.
Why not schedule this event later in the day, when you can build up some excitement for the scrimmage and possible have a nice turnout from students and alumni.?
I know for a fact that you've got fans from the Triangle area, Charlotte and even out of state, who would probably drive up to see this game if it was held at a reasonable time in the day. But I doubt many folks are going to wake up before dawn just so they can get there for the 10 AM tip-off.
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
BT

i thought the first scrimmage is usually a part of midnight madness? at least it is at other schools.
sometimes i just can't understand what's up with our scheduling folks. first we bring in a bunch of "no-name" schools and then we schedule a bunch of afternoon games on saturdays. there's nothing fan friendly about that...

Based on the press release I saw, just Beatdowns Unlimited will be practicing during Midnight Madness.

is there any explanation for eaves scheduling a 10am blue/gold game? it just seems that nurturing fan interest is a low priority when it comes to scheduling basketball events...

I think the 4pm game start is a student-athlete wellness compromise between schools. This allowed the traveling team to have a post game meal at a reasonable time and arrive at the Monday stop, generally before midnight. A 7pm game start puts the meal at 10pm plus and arrival at the next stop at 2am or 3am. This is about when they arrive back in Greensboro on Tuesdays, except of course on the FL run. Baltimore, followed by Howard/UMES is shortest Sat/Mon stops, the rest are all at about 4+ hours apart.

The FAMU game is at 3pm on that same day. Maybe the B&G game could have been at 7pm.

The FAMU game is at 3pm on that same day. Maybe the B&G game could have been at 7pm. That's how it used to be. You schedule at 10a when you don't want people to see your team. Period.

10 A.M. is about the time they practice on Saturdays, geniuses.

10 AM is also the time most people are heading out to Biscuit-ville on Saturday morning.
If you want fans to come out and support your program, it would help if you would schedule your intra-squad scrimmage when most people are able to attend. That just seems like the "smart" thing to do.

thrilla... i think eaves would consider changeing the time if you discussed it with him... i doubt he is that closed minded not to hear you out...
the main reason the bg gm is early sat morning is so it won't interfere with the fball gm or with peoples tailgating... but i think people would love to see a bg gm after the fball gm also...because some of the tailgating folks may not be able to make it to regular season gm...
& for the simple fact that some people just aren't ready to go home right after a fball gm...

You look small with this post. I guess Thrilla is making too much sense. And for the record, if Thrilla (or anyone) was able to sit down with Eaves and get the time changed, then Eaves is weaker than I ever imagined. That's like letting a man off the street come in your house and instruct your wife how to decorate the living room. I disagree with almost all of his philosphies but one thing about Eaves is that he is confident in his system to a fault. If he believes in it, he sticks with it. Even that B.S. run and gun offense. So, after re-reading your post, I have a better idea of who should shut the h*ll up. But that's just my opinion. lol

If he has a late B.G. game the players would not have a chance 2 see the football game... If the football game was away it would b different, but I think almost every yr the games happen 2 be home. So I'm thinkin this isn't for the fans benefit but for his players because most of them do support other aggie athletics... Jus a little something to think about
