ASU athletic director to resign
By Josh Moon Monique Holland, who took over as Alabama State's athletic director just nine months ago, will resign from that position at the end of this month. Holland issued a brief statement through ASU's media relations department Wednesday, saying only that she enjoyed her time at ASU and was resigning to "move on to do other things." Numerous attempts to reach Holland throughout the day and night on her cell phone were unsuccessful. "We wish (Holland) well in her future career goals and commend her for the work she did here at ASU," University spokesman Kenneth Mullinax said in a prepared statement. "Although the university is sorry to have her leave us, we are grateful for the leader ship she pro vided in her time here." A request Wednesday evening by the Montgomery Advertiser to speak with other ASU officials, specifically university president William Harris, was declined. Mullinax said school officials were still "figuring everything out" and that more information would be available this morning. Mullinax offered no comment when asked if Holland's resignation was a surprise to school officials. When asked if Holland's departure was the result of any sort of disagreement between her and the administration, Mullinax said he didn't know.
