BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Morgan State Bears have exactly three weeks before their season-opener against the Akron Zips, and the Bear’s defense looks like they are ready to play. The Bears football team held its first major scrimmage of its 2009 training camp Saturday morning at Hughes Stadium. The defense outplayed the offense and claimed a shutout victory. Head coach Donald Hill-Eley called the match-up a “typical first scrimmage”. “The defense was ahead of the offense as expected,” said Hill. When asked how he felt about the special teams play, Hill said, “Special teams is good, we just did one or two reps. This was the first time we had live reps during training camp.” Hill added, “It takes time to gel, and we have three weeks until the first game. By that time we want to have all three phases strong.” The Bears next scrimmage is Saturday, August 29th at Hughes Stadium. www.morganstatebears.com/news/2009/8/23/FB_0823091639.aspx?path=foot
