I thought maybe you guys would like a little information about the Ragin Cajuns so here we go:
The Cajuns are coming off a 6-5 season (4-2 conference) that was good enough to win a share of the SBC.
The Cajuns opened the season with 2 road games against very good BCS teams, LSU and Texas A&M. The results were not pretty, but we did collect paychecks for about 1.3 million dollars.
UL was picked 1st in the Sunbelt by all of the media publications and a majority of the coaches, but at this moment Troy and Arkansas State are looking very good.
I will continue in the next frame.

As far as the offense of the Cajuns, it is a kind of spread Option. (I am not a coach, so excuse any incorrect terms). The starting Quarterback is a senior and came into the year as the most accurate passer in Cajun history. Having said that, the offense is really mainly based on the running game. Both the starter and the backup QB are pretty good runners and we have a sophomore running back who rushed for more than 1000 yards as a freshman. We also have a red-shirt freshman running back who has shown some flashes of brilliance. Most of the passes are short over the middle stuff designed to get 5-8 yards. The receiving corp is fast, but inexperienced as a group. The offensive line is sort of banged up right now, but the first unit is pretty good. Our senior center was the leader last year, we really miss him. He was replaced by a JC player.
Defense on the next frame

The good: The defense is decent against the run (unless you have a 270 pound RB like Texas A&M) The Cajuns were able to contain LSU's running game.
The bad: The secondary did not perform very well against the fast wide receivers of LSU. Part of that can be attributed to stacking the box and leaving these guys out on an island.
We have had several linebackers battling injuries also and this has really affected the defense. Hopefully the off week will give some of the injured players time to heal.

If you guys in fact run a spread option offense, then you will likely accumulate both yardage and points against us at will.
Make sure you SID has thoroughly researched what you previous all-time scoring high was prior to this game, because you are probably going to surpass it Saturday night. Not to sandbag, but we probably have the worst run defense in the entire nation - Division II and Divison III included. Our Achelies heel this year has been the lack of lateral movement by our defenders and their utter lack of good tackling techniques. If you run misdirection plays vs our defense then it will get ugly pretty quick. In our first two games, we have allowed an average of 300+ yards rushing and 40+ points. We have one outside linebacker, No. 34 Davion Hemphill, who is pretty good and about 10 other guys who wouldn't start for a HS All-Star team right now.
The only positive is that our defense is very young and may have a chance to be better as they mature and get physically stronger in the next few years. Our offense if very young as well, but we have a talented red-shirt freshman QB who has demonstrated a lot of poise and toughness in the first two games and may be able to capitalize on some purported deficencies in your secondary.

One thing I did not mention, is that the Cajun offense is a ball-control type offense (when successful) , rather than a "big play" offense. Drives usually last 7-8 minutes. This could limit scoring in the game. so I would not expect to see a bizarre scoring outcome.
Good luck and pray for no injuries on either side.
If you come to L:Lafayette for the game, come early for tailgating and please come by the Delphi Tent located at the opposite end from the stadium under the oak tree across from Luther's on Bertrand Drive. There will be free food, beer, and general BS. We love visitors so you will have a good time! ;D

Cajun fans:
On Saturday if you all see a duffle bag around the field from Charlotte with a return to sender tag on it don't be alarmed. It's just Jake Delhomme so open with care.

Aggies go to Cajun country for I-A foe
By Rob Daniels Staff Writer
GREENSBORO -- The N.C. A&T Aggies are venturing to their coach's home state this weekend to play a Division I-A football opponent. While that sounds cool, it's not certain to become a trend.
More relaxed bowl-eligibility rules at the I-A level are creating more matchups between the nominal big guys and I-AA schools, and A&T surely doesn't mind the exposure that such games create. That's particularly true while A&T tries to complete a $100 million capital campaign in 2008.
But for the Aggies, playing I-A foes -- even the seemingly benign Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns -- is like deciding to become a pilot. You don't just climb into the cockpit without proper training.
"Down the road, as we build the program, it will be good for us," coach Lee Fobbs said. "But we want to be smart about the times and situations in which we do it."
Truth be told, this is a tough time for the Aggies to play a team with 85 scholarships. This year, A&T has 53 scholarship recipients. That number will grow closer to the NCAA Division I-AA maximum of 63 if Fobbs strings recruiting classes together and retains the players he signs, but that's a long-term project.
Fobbs grew up in Monroe, La., played at Grambling and coached high school and college football in the state. On some levels, Saturday's game against the Cajuns is appealing. But it came about for more reasons than geography.
In the spring, A&T still needed an 11th game this season, and athletics director Dee Todd phoned one of her former colleagues at the ACC office, Mid-American Conference commissioner Rick Chryst. Toledo had an opening, and Chryst wanted to get the Aggies and Rockets together, but Fobbs and Todd thought that was a bit too ambitious. So Todd asked Chryst if he knew of any other I-A teams looking for a game, and he thought Louisiana-Lafayette still was searching.
That was more manageable. A&T's financial take from the game is only $125,000 -- considerably less than teams in a Bowl Championship Series conference will dole out for a guarantee. (South Florida of the Big East will pay Elon $300,000 for a recently announced meeting.) But three years removed from a MEAC title, A&T must choose its opponents judiciously.
"It is not something I want to do every year," Todd said.

You guys need to be offering up some serious grub at the tailgate, especially since your athletic department is only paying us $125 K. That's peanuts. I thought we were at least getting $300 -$400 grand for this game.
How many folks does your stadium seat anyway?
