N.C. A&T's Eaves named district coach of the year Wednesday, May 13, 2009 By Jeff Mills www.news-record.com/content/2009/05/13/article/nc_ats_eaves_named_district_coach_of_the_yearGREENSBORO – N.C. A&T men's basketball coach Jerry Eaves has been named the District 15 coach of the year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The district includes all MEAC schools. The Aggies, who went 1-26 the season before Eaves was hired in 2003, have improved their record in each of the six seasons since Eaves took over. This season, Eaves led the Aggies to a 16-16 record -- the first time the Aggies have not finished below .500 since the 1994-95 season when the Aggies were 15-15. The Aggies’ 16 wins were the most put together by the program since the 1993-94 season when the Aggies went 16-14. “I really want to thank my players for working so hard,’’ Eaves said. “I want to thank N.C. A&T for giving me my first head coaching opportunity. It has been a tremendous honor for me over the last six years to be the head coach of an historic program.” Since Eaves took over before the start of the 2003-04 season, the team has either improved or matched its win total from the previous season. In the MEAC, only Morgan State and Hampton have more overall wins in the last three years than N.C. A&T’s 46 victories. The Aggies went 9-7 in the MEAC last season, finishing above .500 in the conference for the third consecutive season for the first time since the 1992-95 seasons. Eaves led the Aggies to an 8-0 record in February, the program's longest winning streak in 18 seasons...

I'm not blasting him out the water. You all know how I feel. This is a thread his supporters should enjoy. Who won MEAC coach of the year?
And as far as winning over the last 3 years.............
Morgan - Won the MEAC Hampton -High standards, still not good enough, Forced the coach out A&T - We're just happy to be here.
It's an accomplishment nonetheless though. Something he can build on if he can do better. By year 10 or 11, we might be in the quarterfinals.
Calm down, just a serious joke.

anyone know who else is included in District 15? www.ivyleaguesports.com/documents/D1all-district09.pdfBased off of this website it looks like the districts are based on conferences, so district 15 is the meac. I did not look up the qualifications of receiving this award but still congrats for winning it.

In the article bluehaze posted above, it says that they were voted on by their peers (possibly district peers). I missed the line that said the district inlcuded the MEAC schools.
