Just one month after completing the most successful women’s basketball season in school history, the Lady Aggies were honored yet again for their accomplishments– this time at the annual “Rib Fest” celebration on April 25.
The event was organized by longtime A&T athletics supporters Jim and Elaine McLeod and took place at their home in High Point, NC.
In attendance for Rib Fest were A&T head coach Patricia-Cage Bibbs, the entire team, assistant coaches and support staff. Other guests included members of the Greensboro Aggie Club, local dignitaries, ncatdawgpound.com staff and corporate V.I.PS.
Serving as keynote speaker for the event was local Wall-Mart official Theresa Lavine, whose theme was "Champions".
Later, each member of the lady Aggies received a personalized trophy. Several individuals also were honored with special awards, including Amber Bland (Greatest Lady Aggie Ever award), Nakia DeBlanc (Rookie-of-the-Year), Jalessa Sams (Best All Around), Lamona Smalley (Aggie Pride Award), Brittanie Taylor-James (Wal-Mart Most Valuable Player), Tierra Thomas (Defensive Player of the Year), Coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs (Wal-Mart Coach-of-the-Year Award).
NFL commemorative bottles, including a signature Plaxico Burris (New York Giants) bottle, were given to Coach Bibbs' husband, courtesy of Pepsi.
Ncatdawgound.com staff photographer Dr. Michael Simmons presented Coach Bibbs with two of his special edition framed photos, as well as an 8 x 10 for all underclassmen and 11 x 14 prints to the seniors.
Afterwards, Coach Bibbs and the team presented gifts to Elaine McLeod and Janice McLeod, wife and sister of Rib Fest host Jim McLeod.
