DURHAM, N.C. - April 22, 2009 A big drop in donations is impacting a Triangle-area university. Yesterday, at a North Carolina Central University Board of Trustees meeting, leaders said there was a 62 percent drop in donations. Gifts to the school decreased from more than $7 million from July 2007 to April 2008, to only $2.7 million this last year.University officials say they are asking donors who have already started individual endowments to step up to the plate and provide bridge gifts as they try to continue a level of education while market turmoil decreases the value of those endowments. Eagles are the Aggies kissing cousins (dreadful thought ;D) so I wonder if A&T is on that identical curve.

i don't know if the curve is identical but if i had to guess i'd say our donations are probably down as well. most other schools' donations are probably down too. its hard economic times out there and discretionary spending is the first thing folks cut back on.
i mean, when you're going through hard times you're not gonna be "donating" money to anyone...

Especially if the institution seeking donations does not have a efficient donation/online giving system in place. I would expect donations to the A&T athletics department to be down this year because the A&T athletics department has not done a good job of requesting donations from non Aggie Club members or even unveiling a comprehensive fundraising plan.

That's too bad. Most institutions are suffering through this crisis. The corporate clusters and/or the large companies that ususally give large gifts are feeling the pinch. Alumni are probably reducing their usual donations, which will impact the situation even more. Hopefully, this financial crisis will see some light of day soon.
