I say if we pass for 100 yards, score more than three points and hold them to under 300 yards rushing, we should feel pretty good about ourselves?
What do you think?

Don't believe in moral victories.
But better execution would be a real step in the right direction. A week to week improvement was all I was looking for before the season started and it's still all I'm looking for.

I want us to average more than 17 points on offense this year.

I want us to not get punked like we did when we played Wake. We only had one truly decent play in that game and dude dropped the damn pick for a TD!!! The Wake QB was looking for LB's to run over when he scrambled. They ran the same shotgun draw like 15 plays straight and we didn't get close to stopping it. Just want to see them play with a little more heart than that.

I still think we should show some improvement on defense this week and, on offense, punch the ball into the endzone on a least two occasions. Even though this is a 1-A team, I feel like we should not be making the same mistakes on defense and with our blocking schemes that we have in the first two games.

I wouldn't look for much better this week. These guys are hungry for a win and they are a I-A team. I think they run from the spread which means we'll go from 115th to dead last and rushing d.
At this point I want the guys to try their best and come home healthy and ready to compete.

I'll settle for any improvement on stopping the run. Just keep the game plan simple regardless of score.

In the press conference yesterday, Fobbs said that they were a finesse, pass-the-ball-down-the- field type of team. That may bode well for us considering our problems in stopping the run.
Honestly, I'm just curious to see how long our kids can keep their composure and if they fight to the final whistle. I know they are going to underestimate our offense and I want to see if Herb and Garth can hook up for a long one against them.

In all actuality, our corners haven't been tested because everyone knows we can't stop the run. Whenever they were tested, WSSU dropped a bomb and they're not even a passing type team. It may be a long day if LLU is a pass-the-ball-down-the-field type of team.

If he said they're a finesse passing team he hasn't scouted them at all.
Last year:
FIRST DOWNS................... 227 Rushing..................... 137 Passing..................... 76 Penalty..................... 14 RUSHING YARDAGE............... 2797 Yards gained rushing........ 2990 Yards lost rushing.......... 193 Rushing Attempts............ 531 Average Per Rush............ 5.3 Average Per Game............ 254.3 TDs Rushing................. 34 PASSING YARDAGE............... 1456 Att-Comp-Int................ 237-136-9 Average Per Pass............ 6.1 Average Per Catch........... 10.7 Average Per Game............ 132.4 TDs Passing................. 3
More than two to one rushing to passing. Even when TAMU was killing them this year they only threw it 12 times and ran it 38. LSU, ran 35 passed 17. I guess they're a finesse passing team on the rare occassions that they actually pass.

I'll settle for any improvement on stopping the run. Just keep the game plan simple regardless of score. You can't have a "simple" game plan when you know you're out matched. You can keep it simple when you compare favorably physically and fundamentally. We don't. Offensively, you have to minimize mistakes while not being afraid to take chances. Defensively, you have to show different looks in an effort to disguise your weaknesses and always be aggressive. Attack rather than react. A conservative read and react style will continue to get you "killt".

Dooms, my thinking is that against LSU and A&M they were not able to drop back and adequately protect the passer, so they had to run th ball more than they wanted to, just to keep their QB alive.

So how does that explain last year's stats (posted above) and what I read about their offense in USA Today prior to the season?
They ran 531 times and passed 237 times last year dude. Three touchdown passes all of last year. Read the post again.
