What's the criteria for being considered for defensive player of the year? The brother Jason Johnson that won defensive player of the year might have deserved it but they only talked about his rebounding and shooting percentage. No mention of number of steals or blocked shots. If they picked on defensive performance, Coleman should have been defensive player of the year. Did Coleman not lead the conference in blocked shots and I am sure he was in the top 10 in rebounding and shooting percentage. I don't know for sure but was he not one of the top shot blockers in the NCAA? Does anyone know if he even got any votes?

A&T has always been shortchanged when it comes to the MEAC all -conference temas no matter what sport or what year.
I remember when Gene Littles put together his first team that went 23-5 in the regular season and was 14-2 in the league and he had the top three scorers in the league, led in team totals for assists, blocks, rebounds, steals, turnover ratio, and margin of victory and got just one player on the MEAC team and that was Sparrow.

AggieOne if I remember correctly, Gene Littles did not even win coach of the year that season. Seems like I remember the Aggie Club or the school presenting him a large trophy at one of our games proclaiming him "our coach of the year". Correct me if I am wrong!!

I guess the MEAC always felt like they had to overcorrect for having their office in Greensboro (years ago). But as we all know people love to hate on the Aggies. As a relative of mine told me "A&T Grads talk noise even in their down years".
But their is no way Coleman should not have been at least second team, he is a dominatig force on the defensive end.

no representatives on the all conference team or poy awards should be incentive for the men to perform well at the tourney! they need to prove that they deserve more recognition that they got!
