We went through the last 9 minutes with only 2 points scored; those cold spells are what scare me the most about the team. I hope this will push them to prepare for the tournament and not go through the cold spells. What seemed to happen; couldn't make the game.

The Aggies had the chance to deliver the knockout punch with 11 minutes to go. Johnson had scored 4 straight points to give A&T a 14 pt lead, 54-40, and then the defense seemed to have gotten laxed. Hampton increased their defensive pressure.
The last 3 minutes, A&T had the shots but they couldn't muscle ball in the basket for the score.

Heartbreak Hotel. The streak started with a miracle shot against Hampton ... and ended with a miracle by Hampton. If only I hadn't posted that Coleman video .... HEX!!!!

AGGIES LOSE HOME FINALE TO HAMPTON Coleman records second career double-double
GREENSBORO, March 2, 2009 – If imitation is the ultimate form of flattery, then the Hampton Pirates paid the North Carolina A&T men’s basketball team a compliment the Aggies did not want Monday night.
Over the Aggies eight-game winning streak, they have used their rotation and their press to wear teams down in the second half. It was Hampton who pressured N.C. A&T on Monday, forcing the Aggies into 24 turnovers to earn a come-from-behind 59-58 win at Corbett Sports Center.
Thomas Coleman led the Aggies with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Robert Johnson and Nick Wilson had 10 points apiece. Hampton’s Darrion Pellum and Michael Freeman had 14 points apiece. Pellum took a pass from a Vincent Simpson baseline drive and laid it up over two Aggie defenders with 2.1 seconds remaining to give the Pirates the win.
“This is a hard loss to take, but I’m going to take it,’’ said Eaves. “Why we didn’t play in the second half, I just don’t know. I’m going to have to figure that out between tonight and tomorrow. We’re going to have to right the ship quickly because we’ve got another tough opponent coming up.”
N.C. A&T (16-14, 9-6 MEAC) had its eight-game winning streak come to an end. The loss could prove costly depending on ones perspective. If the MEAC Tournament was to start today, the Aggies would be the fourth seed. S.C. State finished its conference season at 10-6 on Monday, and it has the tiebreaker edge over the Aggies.
Coppin State is 9-6 and it holds the head-to-head advantage over the Aggies because they beat N.C. A&T in January. The Aggies close the season at Norfolk State on Thursday. The Spartans along with Bethune-Cookman are a game behind the Aggies, but the Aggies hold the tiebreaker over B-CU and unless the Spartans beat the Aggies by 28, they also have the tiebreaker over NSU.
Therefore, the Aggies have an excellent shot had holding on to one of the top four spots although a fourth seed could set up a potential second round matchup against top seed Morgan State.
It looked like the Aggies were going to keep all the tiebreaker scenarios out of the equation by continuing to win. The Aggies led by as many as 18 on Monday and went into the locker room with a 39-23 halftime lead.
The Aggies led by double figures, 56-45, as late as the 8:15 mark of the second half. But Freeman completed a 5-0 Hampton run with an offensive rebound and dunk that led to a 3-point play that cut the Aggies lead to 56-50 with 6:33 remaining.
Coleman answered with an offensive rebound and dunk of his own to put the Aggies ahead 58-50 with 6:01 remaining. Coleman’s dunk marked the Aggies final points of the game as they scored just two field goals over the final 12 minutes.
Meanwhile, Pellum took over the game for the Pirates. He hit a jumper in the lane to cut the Aggies lead to three at 58-55 with 2:30 remaining. After two Aggie misses and a turnover, Pellum hit two free throws to slice the lead to one. Coming out of a timeout, the Aggies saw the shot clock go under five seconds, forcing Marc Hill to throw up a tough jump shot that rimmed out. His miss set up Pellum’s late-game heroics.
“We can’t play like this going into the tournament,’’ said Eaves. “We have one more game left and we just have to put forth a better effort than that. Even over the eight-game winning streak we had not been putting a full game together. We’re going to have to get back to that. We learn from our wins as well as our losses. ”

There might be another video on Coleman soon. He got dunked on last night, I mean a face job. Another thing, Nick Wilson who was having a great shooting night got injured early in the seconf half and never return to the game. He would have made a difference because his shooting was on in the first half. I don't know how serious his injury is but he was wearing a boot when he returned to the bench.

Scoring only 2 points in 9 minutes is tough for anyone to overcome. I know Nickelberry was sweating bullets. lol. He's fighting for his job in the worst way.

The reason Coleman gets dunked on a lot is because he contests everything that goes up. Most cats would just let the opponent throw it down. In the first WSSU game, Coleman actually blocked a breakaway dunk attempt.
To be a true shot blocker you have to be fearless and take the chance of getting embarrassed every once in a while. Dikembe Mutombo is probably the greatest shot blocker in NBA history and he has a highlight film full of times when he has gotten dunked on.
No risk, no reward.

now that we've loss a game, the best we can hope for is the 3rd seed. for that to happen, we need to beat norfolk on thursday and morgan needs to beat coppin. if that happens, we get the 3rd seed and remain on the opposite side of morgan in the brackets.
if coppin beats morgan, they get the 3rd seed even if we beat norfolk because they have the tie breaker advantage on us. coppin will be up for that game but hopefully the game will mean enough to morgan that they will play hard even though they've already clinched the 1 seed. fortunately, this is a cross town "rivalry game" and morgan should be almost as motivated as coppin...

Nevermind. That play by play doesn't show timeouts called.

A&T has no shot at him on any capacity. He's connected like Sprint. If he get's fired, he'll have a job by June/July, probably at a major.
