I disagree with this whole ticket price thing. I don't think we can have it both ways when we have this desire to improve our program. You have to generate revenue from somewhere. To many folks were benefiting except the institution. Maybe if we could get the alumni to give more to the athletic program then the ticket price can be reduced. i feel ya. but if our stadium seats 21,500 folks and only 18,000 attend, that leaves 3,500 tickets unsold. all i'm saying is, if the ticket prices were around $30 instead of $35, we'd probably sell the stadium out and make more money than selling tickets at $35 while not selling the stadium out. here's the math if my theory was true; tickets @ $35 a pop => $35 x 18,000 peeps = $630,000 tickets @ $30 a pop => $30 x 21,500 peeps = $645,000

I don't think that $5 makes a difference on the attendance. It's the quality of the team on the field. These last two years the tickets could've been $20 and people would've rather stayed outside the stadium and tailgated.

The current problem with not having a sellout is the product on the field but what started the decline in 2004 was the surprised price hike that hit the fans like a brick in the face. The big increase was a sticker shock for people who were used to a certian price the previous years. I think the price for homecoming that year jumped damn near 70 percent.

It used to be $25 for general and $30 for reserve. Then in '04 it went up to $40-$45 and we took a whoopin. IMO people would've continued to pay if the product was viable, but for 0- forever, that money could be used on a new outfit for the Sheraton.
