AGGIES MAKE COACHING CHANGE
GREENSBORO, January 28, 2009 – North Carolina A&T director of athletics Wheeler Brown has announced the dismissal of head volleyball coach Lyndsay Schmiedel.
“We thank Ms. Schmiedel for her service to the volleyball program both as an assistant and head coach,’’ said Brown. “The program at this time, however, needs a new direction.”
Schmiedel came to N.C. A&T as an assistant in 2005 and served as the Aggies assistant volleyball coach for two seasons. She accepted the head coaching position in 2007. In two seasons under Schmiedel, the Aggies went 15-48. The contact person for the program until a replacement for Schmiedel is found will be assistant coach Arlene Mitchell.

Hmmm. I think I might need to create another online petition. We need Arlene to become the permanent head coach next season.
Imagine how much that would raise the overall thick and fineness level of this program.

Hell, if that happens I might have to drive from Raleigh to Greensboro to check out some volleyball games.... ;D

OK, it appears that you win pct has to be 25% and below to get fired at T. Fobbs was about 8-9% and this volleyball coach was at about 24%. As long as you stay at about 35%, you should be OK. I get it now.

generally i support all of our coaches but it was very obvious that schmiedel was not getting the job done. she took over the job following a very successful run by our previous coach, yet our program nose dived under schmiedel's leadership.
i guess next year will tell us a lot about wheel's ability to select qualified coaches.

That says to me that WB wants winners in Aggie atheletics. Eaves better be on the lookout! I would suppose Wheeler has Battle's blessings to get this ship in order.

I think Schemiedal was a quality coach ... but she didn't really add to the bottom line of our overall thick and fineness level. If we let Arlene replace her as head coach next season, our overall thick and fineness level will skyrocket.

Can we start a petition that requires the coach to wear the same uniform as the players?

Program starting going down after the Mitchell twins finished their senior year and there were no one to replace them. Both the current and previous coach, Slyvia, couldn't find top players to come in following the Mitchell twins. The twins were brought in by Rudlett, sic, currently at Tennessee State.
