That's right, look to see the Aggies newest and bestest coaching staff in football in just about two months, some time in March. It's the Aggie Adminstration at its best. If you need it today, you can count on this Administration to get it in 8-to-12 weeks. You need an offensive coordinator?.....two months! You need a defensive line coach?.........two months! Defensive coordinator?.....well, right now, you got two for the price of one, a headcoach and defensive coordinator......till, one is hired.........you got it....in two months!! Oh before I forget, offensive line coach and wide receiver coach?........two months!!!! Hey, be happy the coaches will be on board a couple of weeks before spring practice. At least this Administration is consistant, they got their head football coach just two weeks before National Signing Day for high school football recruits. Aggies, have you hugged your Human Resource Office Manager today

Does that mean that they won't be here until then or is it merely a administrative issue? Meaning, are they allowed to formulate whatever plans needed and interact with the HC, or does all that have to wait until they are officially announced?

we spend an awful lot of time on this site discussing our coaches. will they or will they not be successful and why? we're always assessing the performance of our coaches. but that's only one aspect of our athletics and probably not even the most important aspect either.
what about the folks who "control" our athletics? the ad's office, the bot, and the chancellor? if we grade poorly at the ad, bot, and chancellor levels, there's a very good chance we'll see poor results on the football field and the basketball court.
will we ever get to the "root cause" of our athletic ineptness? i hate to sound like a broken record, but we haven't won an meac conference championship "in any sport" in over 5 years! that's all sports, folks! no championships! and is there anything in the wind that says it will change anytime soon? i don't think so, other than women's basketball.
yes indeed, there needs to be a discussion about the folks who control our athletics...

The thing about it, oleschool, is that the coach is the most visible and tangible person of our athletic programs. The AD, BOT, and admin folks are only visible when there's something going on with the coach (good or bad)! The fans don't get too much insight into those people, but the coach is out there, up front for everyone to get a look at. Plus they have the day-to-day duty of making sure the athletic programs are performing.

Didn't the baseball team win a championship within the last 5 years?

I am sure the AD will find a way to bring the assistant coaches on board much sooner than what I had stated above. I just wish HRO will understand that timeline for hiring coaches especially in football and basketball is not the same as hiring faculty or admin staff.
They should understand there is an urgency to put a head coach and staff in place. The urgency is not for the alumni and fans but for business of recruiting and keeping current players intact. Other than money, player recruiting and retention are the life blood of a sports program.

Didn't the baseball team win a championship within the last 5 years? aggie77, i stand corrected. baseball won the meac in '05. so we've won 1 "official" meac championship in the last 5 years (and 1 regular season championship in women's basketball, if you want to count that). but the point remains. for the second largest school in the meac, we should be doing far better. we field 12 meac teams which means we have 12 opportunities to win a championship every year. out of our last 60 opportunities, we've won 1 championship in arguably one of the weakest d1 conferences in the nation. we're 1 for 60 and counting...
