ok well maybe not "official" but anyway... November 26, 2008 From: The staff of Golden Delight Re: Blue Reign 2008-2009 On behalf of the staff and ladies of the Golden Delight Auxiliary, be it known that we extend to the newest edition of Blue Reign best wishes on your upcoming season. We have had one of our best performance years ever. We are gearing up to attend the 2009 Honda Battle of the Bands and believe this will be an experience to remember. In light of that, we know that with dedication and teamwork, Blue Reign will have an equally successful season. There is not nor will there ever be a competition (either real or in theory) between these squads. The squad harbors no ill will. As has been stated before, you are all young ladies at A&T to be educated and have Aggie Pride. Our opponents are the dance teams/flags lines from other HBCU marching bands. We look forward to seeing the new and creative things your group will do this season. We have no intentions of participating in a battle with you. Unfortunately, much of the tension and negative publicity on our groups is perpetuated by outside forces. While we can not control the actions or words of others, we have submitted this message as our official statement. No longer will unaffilated parties speak for Golden Delight. We are classy ladies and we are sure your group carries those same values. The whole point is to make A&T look good and support our teams. Our goals are to develop our ladies personally and performance wise and to establish the squad as force amongst HBCU marching band dance lines. If there are any concerns, feel free to email us at thegoldendelights@hotmail.com. Again, we wish your staff and squad GOOD LUCK on your season! Ms. Tiffany Brown and Mrs. Tanika Harris Golden Delight Staff

Ms. Tiffany Brown and Mrs. Tanika Harris Golden Delight Staff sweetheart1... the main reason for a dance competition was not to bring any animosity towards gd & br... it was to make corbett the most festive atmosphere in college basketball...!!!!!! also...we thought it would be a good way to bring in the students who may not come to corbett because they don't like sports... but who would come to a dance off... or... step show... or to watch cold steel perform against other drum lines in the city.... you see... at the acc schools... they have all their dance teams performing at sporting events... showing the beauty of their student body... why is it like pulling teeth to get hbcus to show case the beauty on its campuses.... because it wasn't done 50yrs ago...!!!!!!!!!! if the trash talk is upsetting to you... just take it for what its worth... people trying to really hype this event up if it were to happen... so if gd & br would consider doing this ... it would probably sale out corbett... & if gd & br wanted to do routines together like you see in a las vagas show... would work just the same... corbett needs packed houses filled to the rafters.... gd & br could be the main cause of that happening...!!!!!!!!!!!! think about it...

its the way that blue death is going about the whole thing. ...like it's showtime at the apollo. a battle is not cool in aggieland.... it should be just a show with both dance teams. audience would get best of both worlds.... JAZZ AND MODERN FROM GOLDEN DELIGHTS AND SOME HIP HOP R&B FROM BLUE REIGN. I dont think these dance teams are agreeing to it because its being played out so negatively on this site. If it was a friendly show to get people to come out then it should be promoted that way. I think both dance squads are too classy to battle on the same turf. It would not be classy of the aggies at all. Golden Delight has lots of spectacle and they have the band, Blue Reign uses top 40 radio hits for the most part. They are still crawling because they are a failry new dance team. If anything, promote the show as a Golden Delight/ Blue Reign showcase, not a battle. I honestly do think that this could happen during something like Aggie Fest! And why during basketball season?...that's BR's season. If anything, can we help BR get their status up and help them fundraise?

And why during basketball season?... Because from marketing perspective, it puts butts in the seats at Corbett. (Read the subtitle under my screen name

Maxwell, I respectfully request that you introduce the GD/BR Staff an expert's marketing plan showing the financial rewards for having a Showcase Event at Corbett Sports Complex. If BR needs money wouldn't we think a Showcase would be the ultimate fundraiser? I'd pay to see it. So would a thousand other Aggies.

A battle between GD and BR would not be unlike the band battle between A&T and NSU that happens every year. It's just a friendly battle and no winner is even picked. It's just a way of showcasing their talents and hopfully putting people in the seats. I feel it would be great if put together with both group's interest at heart.

If BR needs money wouldn't we think a Showcase would be the ultimate fundraiser? I'd pay to see it. So would a thousand other Aggies. As far as a stand alone PAID event, I would suggest a showcase vs WSSU on Friday, February 20th. It would be Golden Delight, Blue Reign, the Pep Band, and Cheerleaders against Winston's comparable groups. It would draw 2500+ folks easy@$10.00 a head. At say $6.00 a head it may fill up and you may make up the $4.00 in concessions. A&T could pay Winston's travel and food expenses out of the gate receipts. The date would give all groups a chance to prepare and market the event as well as enough tension could build since our band will be at Honda when we play Winston the first time. We could bill it as "US against THEM - Rockin' I-40 Crowd"(or something like that). In an event like this, Blue Reign, Golden Delight and the cheerleaders would be on the same team while performing separately. It could work but Blue Reign would need to step it up a notch for this and get in a little better physical condition. It would take cooperation from all four groups and WSSU to make it work. No doubt showcase or not, the mission would be to "win"! Getuprams, hypothetically would WSSU be interested?

Maxell, you can reach Denise Iverson-Payne in Murphy Hall. If anybody can make that concept happen, she can.
