A couple of revelations/confirmations for me:
1. Eaves is not a bad coach. He needs more talent (What's the barrier?). 2. Jones is not mentally in every game. I saw it last year also. 3. Kam is a project, pure and simple 4. Marc Hill is the real deal at the point. 5. A&T may not see a tougher defense than they saw tonight all year. 6. Coleman needs to get into the weight room and get meaner. 7. Every team needs three guys to be consistent 8. I knew they would have at least one or two games like this so it's not a surprise. 9. Simpson is a Freshman. The college game is a little intense for him. 10. Their conference record should improve if ... (see #7)Wilson proves to be the wildcard scorer when Jones takes a mental break. I think Coleman and Johnson can be consistent.

Maxell, all of those are very good points. And like you said earlier, we just couldn't match up with Cal, talent wise!

I am watching via the internet Cal's a good team they have a point guard that's killing us he is 4 of 4 from the 3 point arc. I want credit Cal's defence but we have missed practically every open shot and there have been a ton of them. Approx 1 for 13 for threes Were you able to get a single game via the net, or did you have to get the entire package?

The "money" games aren't fair to evaluate him on. They'll be outmatched everytime with the major D1's. You said that he needs more talent but he's not a bad coach. Keep in mind that it is his responsibility to acquire talent, thus that is a part of coaching. Also, Coleman has not been developed properly. There is no way that at the start of his second year, after what we saw last year, that we should be saying he needs to get in the weightroom. Dead on with Marc Hill. I hate small guards, but he can play. This team will be in a lot of games because the young players want to believe in the system and they play hard. In the MEAC, you only need one or two really good players and you'll be in the tourney. Ask Coppin and Del St. Del consistently kills the MEAC and they only have one or two players every year.

1-13 in threes, wow! I knew that it would be nights like these with the team.
Maxwell, thanks. I like your points. On point #6....Coleman has an "up side" that could really make noise. He already has that vibe that will "go and get your stuff if it is weak." He just needs Jul. Mc to get more grit also. I heard that Coleman got in foul trouble @ UNLV... I dont know about the nature of the fouls, but I know that he protects the hoop. T Alston was off last night...He normally plays well & his shots are open whenever the ball swings back around to him.

You are dead on - with Coleman getting meaner and the weight room. Even Cal's anouncers said he has great foot work. There was a sequence last night were Coleman got three offensive rebounds in a row under the basket and had three put back opportunities. He missed two shots under the basket and got one blocked. He went up soft. At 6-9 225 you have the body to go up strong. The kid has to get mean and some intensity. Eaves can't teach him that he has got want it.
If we had shot 40% from the three arc this would have been a much closer game (2 for approx 18 threes). As everyone knows missed three's kick out long so Cal got alot of easy baskets. The tough part the majority of the missed three's were not contested. But I guess everybody has off shooting nights.........

thefriscotxaggie, thats the thing...Coleman will face taller players in games like this. He must develop that Ben Wallace/ Dennis Rodman vibe when He is rebounding. Out-work them! And at the end of the night they shake their head while giving you dap. > I want to see how we do during the last leg in Vegas
Also, I want to see the Norfolk game....we need to "roll" in Irvin-Corbett, against the league teams.

T Alston was off last night...He normally plays well & his shots are open whenever the ball swings back around to him. He got two early blocking fouls trying to earn a charge and he was out of sync and out of the game after that. He was also being smothered defensively. Hill handled it better so with Alston in foul trouble, Alston didn't get his normal minutes.

I agree that aquiring talent is part of coaching. I should have said he's not a bad X's and O's/ in-game coach. If he's not good at getting talent he should hire an assistant that is. As far as the evaluation piece, we can absolutely evaluate him on these games. They won't be outmatched every game. They should have beaten UNLV on Saturday. They beat DePaul last year. We are Division I, so we may as well act like it or go back to DII.

oleschoolaggie thanks. I dont have the package ( "baby needs a new pair of shoes"), but I'll look around.
I also saw that NSU has a Brother from Rocky Mt that laced 32 points on Will & Mary in a loss. We have to really use these Vegas games to figure ourselves out a little more. On 2nd thought, Eaves was right about the team leadership has to pan out. To me, the defense should get us some points....and our turn-overs need to go down.
