At the women's BB game last Friday I noticed that we now have two different student organizations competing against one another: The Aggie Maniacs and the Aggie Live Wires. Now, I remember the Live Wires back when I was in school (the first time), but I assumed they had just changed their name to Aggie Maniacs. However, it was clear at the Elon game that these groups were were two separate entities. The Live Wires seem like they are serious about getting their title back because they had on nice little T-shirts and they were really trying hard to make their presence felt. I'm not sure how the Maniacs feel about someone else moving in on their turf, but the atmosphere inside the Dawg Pound might really get interesting this season.

Thrilla, glad you finally joined the party...lol but PLEASE dont stir the pot too much... now that the man that started this whole mess is no longer with the university, there is finally a little bit of peace and civility between The Aggie Livewires and the maniacs
now to clear up any confusion let me state that:
THE AGGIE LIVEWIRES ARE (and have been) THE OFFICIAL PEP SQUAD OF NORTH CAROLINA AGRICULTURAL & TECHNICAL STATE UNIVERSITY
There was no name change, Merger, or period of inactivity of the sort...thrilla, you are not the only one that got "confused" by what we call the "screwjob of '06"... but its okay.
Be sure to catch the 2008-2009 edition of The Aggie Livewires In the Dawg Pound as they continue to bring the noise and show you Aggie Pride Personified...

So are you saying that the Maniacs were the brain child of Keith McCluney? I never knew that.
BTW: How come they get the prime real estate next to the band and you guys have to set up shop under the opposite goal? I thought seniority would dictate that the Live Wires get the marquee spot.
I'm just saying ...

Got this from the ncataggies.com:
AggieManiacs -- Join the Fun
The A&T student section donned in their gold shirts have played a major role in of the success of both the men’s and women’s basketball team’s in Corbett Sports Center over the last three seasons.
The idea for the revamped student section was started last year and was the brain child of the Aggie Sports Marketing office and the Aggie Club. Darren Brand, one of the organizers of the group worked with the Aggie Club to develop the foundation of the now widely popular “Aggie Maniacs” which is the student arm of the North Carolina A&T State University Aggie Club. The “Aggie Maniacs” participate in community service and fundraising projects with the Aggie Club and promote the principle of “Deeds Not Words” to support the athletic department. The Aggie Maniacs also make coming into Corbett Sports Center an undesirable task for visiting teams.
The “Aggie Maniacs” are 150 students strong and growing. The goal is to create the best basketball environment in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and the students have the opportunity to make the “Aggie Maniacs” a great sixth man advantage for our basketball teams. But it also provides an opportunity for our students to see the value of giving back to the University. Each member of the “Aggie Maniacs” receives a variety of perks including the highly sought after “Aggie Maniacs” T-shirt (only available to members of the Student Aggie Club) as well as priority seating at all home football and basketball games. E-mail alerts and other communications give members early notification of upcoming game day promotions, contests and trips to away games.
If you are an A&T student, and are interested in learning more about the “Aggie Maniacs”, e-mail your request to Joe Thompson at aggie.maniacs@gmail.com or the Aggie Sports Marketing office at 334.7310.

So are you saying that the Maniacs were the brain child of Keith McCluney? BTW: How come they get the prime real estate next to the band and you guys have to set up shop under the opposite goal? I thought seniority would dictate that the Live Wires get the marquee spot. I'm just saying ... Disclaimer: the following statement one of a personal nature and does not reflect the views and opinions of the aggie livewiresNow, I have no reason or anything to gain from any fabrications or exaggerations b/c neither Mr. McCluney or Darren Brand are associated with the university anymore but... Darren Brand (who at one time was affiliated with the aggie livewires) was nothing more than the mouth piece and put in the forefront only because he was well known on campus and could recruit members but keith was the mastermind. It was only when the maniacs caught some heat when they caused the mens team to receive a Technical foul at a b-ball game, that Mr. McCluney all of a sudden distanced himself from it... Now with regards to the whole real estate issue...the reason behind that was none other than Mr. McCluney himself. He seated his creation in the prime spots at football and b-ball games so that they could be seen...leaving us to fend for ourselves most of the time having to find seating anywhere we could... As the president of Aggie Livewires during the 2006-07 seasons, i naturally complained to the powers that be about the situation and how an organization that had to follow the rules set forth by the university's council of presidents had to take a backseat to an unofficial group at the time...but people claimed that their "hands were tied" on the subject and we were seated behind the cheerleaders where we would be silenced since they cheer the entire game during b-ball season... From the our standpoint, we had no direct beef with the members of the maniacs our beef was with Mr. McCluney and Darren Brand trying to create a poor imitation of the livewires and their underhanded tactics aimed at driving the them out of business.. Unfortunately, the entire situation snowballed and became an all out hate fest since then... never the less, the aggie livewires continued to be the hypest and livest hbcu pep squad whether we had 5 or 500 members because that is indeed what we do... like i stated before, i have no reason or nothing to gain from lying on the Keith or Darren...Im sure this will at some point get back to the man, but honestly i could care less, because i speak the truth...Aggie livewire was in support of the solid gold campaign..we even changed our shirts from our trademark blue to gold in support of it, BUT we took great exception to Keith's attempts to drive a hard working student organization out of operation only to make himself and his "Solid Gold Campaign" look good... How Classy

Hmmm ... the plot thickens.
Well, this is the beauty of BDV.com. On this site, everyone's voice can be heard ... even those that have been disenfranchised. LOL

You know what, you guys should look at this situation as a great opportunity. If you can turn the area behind the opposite goal into as crazy a section as the other Dawg Pound then that would truly prove you are the best pep squad.
I would suggest you concentrate on being a distraction on free thows. Bring blow up dolls, crazy signs, beach balls ... the whole works.
And maybe you could even work out a cool "call and response" routine with the cheerleaders.
You need to create something that sets you apart from the maniacs and the other Dawg Pound section.
When life gives you lemons ....

Another brewing controversy in Aggieland:
I heard there was a rift between the piccolo players and flute players on which is the strongest upper woodwind section in the band. More to follow on this late breaking story ;D
