This was only game one. I want to see how the new big girls Bibbs brought in will gel.
Also, I don't think Amber will have another game this bad all year.

I don't think Amber will have another game this bad all year. Amber has started slowly every year. She hasn't really gotten it going until about 6-7 games into the season. I don't know why.

Bibbs is a great coach and recruiter but it's gonna be hard to move up to the next level without a dominant rebounder and/or shot blocker. She's gotta recruit some decent girls over 6-3. 6'3" inch girls that can play are 6"6" point guards. They don't come around often. Is it possible? Sure, but let's be realistic for a moment. We should really be proud of what we have. The girls basketball team is really the pride and joy of the whole athletic department. Football and men's basketball are both failures and every year, eventually, only lead us to heart ache. Our ladies are great for the MEAC and can obviously make a splash on the national level, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. We are still a HBCU and getting blue chippers is EXTREMELY difficult. Plus, I would imagine that Bibbs' top goal is to first win the MEAC and tournament, not necessarily beat D-1's. But right now, I'm so happy to see that there is at least one program in the building that can actually go to a high school game and figure out what players can actually play. No one else on campus has done that (out of the top 3 programs).

I said it all last year and I'll be consistent this year. Bibbs will crush the MEAC because no one can recruit with her and her staff and that is evident. But her major weakness is that she struggles with in-game coaching. ahhbigboy, You are dead on, Bibbs is the best recruitor in the MEAC, SWAC and probably the bulk of the mid-majors. However from the few games I watched we get out Coached by the bigger schools. The X' & O's. Our talent is much better than our outcome outside of the MEAC. It does not show against the meac or sub-par schools. Even if you have great talent its going to take a little more than a great half time speech to beat a major Div I team that you have the lead on or are in the game at half time. lol, so i guess you guys must think eaves is a genius since he beat 2 major d1's...

My feel about Bibbs and her staff is if it can be done in the recruiting world, it probably will be. lol

Plus, he only beat one major. SMU hardly qualifies. lol If a line was out on SMU and Morgan, Morgan would probably be favored. Probably Morgan -5. lol Plus coaching had nothing to do with that win. Look at the box score. All it says is that Rush was in a game-long zone! lol

I know, I know.....daughter of man and all that, but just peep it as the season goes on. the meac is going to be tough on both men & women side... & if anyone thinks the schools in the meac are going to lay down for a&t... when they can't stand a&t... we better wake up...!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know Eaves so I can't hate him personally. But I do absolutely HATE him as a basketball coach at T. He's lost and I personally think the job is over his capabilities. Eaves doesn't recruit NC, so an argument can be made that he has missed out on all of them. lol The only ones on his roster are from G-boro. Maybe one that doesn't play from Raleigh.

Morgan has three 6"3 ladys and they are 2-0 beat William & Mary on the road and Fairfield at home. These are the kind of wins that the MEAC needs. We have to show that we can beat somebody outside of the MEAC. Its even more encouraging that William & Mary beat UNC Asheville a few nights later after losing to Morgan.
I agree a 6'3 girl does not have to be a blue chip recruit even if they come in and just give 5 fouls. If you are getting posted up all night or banging the boards against someone who is 2-3 taller than you it wears you down.
Whatever happen to the very tall young lady that was on the team a couple of years ago, she most have been 6"4 with size. I think she was from Charlotte ?

MEAC women's basketball is not all cupcakes outside of A&T. I had sent a warning before the season started that the Lady Aggies have to be better this year than last year to win the MEAC title. Coaches in the MEAC made the adjustments to beat A&T this year. It is up to the players and coaches to counter those adjustments or they will find themselves struggling to stay on top.

This is a telling stat from the first two games. Look at combined points allowed in the second half.
SCORE BY PERIODS: 1st 2nd Total North Carolina A&T.................. 67 57 - 124 Opponents............................. 48 94 - 142
Our scoring didn't drop off significantly but our defense did. Opponents' scoring has doubled in the second half. Whoever said fatigue is a factor may be on to something.
