As feared, we're getting slaughtered on the boards 14-36 so far.

As feared, we're getting slaughtered on the boards 14-36 so far. That is really not the problem...for some reason we stopped playing defense in the 2nd half!

A&T - 64 Ole Miss - 80
Bad 2nd half for the Aggies....Good game Rebelettes! Need to play good defense and clamp down in the 2nd half....we will be OK and learn from this one!

This game (watched via LiveStats) seems like a repeat of the South Carolina (WNIT) last year, great first half and average second half. The stats were removed almost immediately, but rebounds was a significant gap by a large margin (10+). Another gap was that Bland never found her groove. She didn't score her first basket (3 pt) until the 8 min mark in the 2nd half. Ten of eleven players scored!

We shouldn't have loss to Ole Miss. I think we're a much better team. Oh well, I guess that is the difference between being talented on paper and reality. What happened to Bland?

I said it all last year and I'll be consistent this year. Bibbs will crush the MEAC because no one can recruit with her and her staff and that is evident. But her major weakness is that she struggles with in-game coaching. There is one word that describes this game...............ADJUSTMENTS.
I know, I know.....daughter of man and all that, but just peep it as the season goes on.

I didn't follow the game in the second half. What adjustments do you think she should have made?

No, I was just saying that if you look at the difference between the first and the second half numbers, it's obvious that Ole Miss found something and changed the game.

This loss does not fall on the Daughter of Man. If I wouldn't have left at halftime to get my hair cut we probably would have won.
Sorry guys. I will never do that again.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Junior Bianca Thomas scored a team-high 14 points and Ole Miss used a dominating second half performance as the Rebels claimed an 80-64 victory over North Carolina A&T Saturday afternoon in the opening game of the Winthrop Hilton Garden Inn Classic from the Winthrop Coliseum.
Sophomore guard Alliesha Easley turned in an impressive performance in her first game back from injury as she tallied 13 points, four rebounds and three assists. Junior guard Shantell Black added 12 points and tied her career high with eight rebounds, while junior Katorra Lewis scored 11 points to round out a quartet of Rebels in double figures.
North Carolina A&T forward Brittanie Taylor-James paced the Aggies and led all scorers as she collected 18 points and six rebounds. Fellow forward Jalessa Sams finished with 10 points and was the only other Aggie to register a double digit performance.
Ole Miss and North Carolina battled back-and-forth for most of the first half as neither team held more than a seven-point lead. The Aggies actually claimed their largest lead of seven points seconds before halftime as Tyronnica Alford hit a baseline jumper as time expired in the first half to give the Aggies a 34-27 lead at the break.
The Rebels made quick work of the North Carolina A&T lead in the opening minutes of the second half as Ole Miss used a 13-6 run in just over three minutes to nod the game at 42-42 at the 15:07 mark. On the following possession, Thomas gave the Rebels their first lead since the 2:39 mark of the first half as she converted on a layup off a feed from freshman Kayla Holloway.
Midway through the second half, North Carolina A&T regained the lead 48-47 after Tu’Wuana Cook completed a three-point play in transition. Ole Miss, however, maintained its composure and sunk four straight free throws to regain a three-point edge with just over nine minutes remaining.
Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference preseason player of the year Amber Bland answered right back on the other end with a three-pointer from the corner to even the score at 51-51, but Ole Miss used an 8-0 run highlighted by a three-pointer from junior Elizabeth Robertson to claim a lead it would never surrender.
From that point on, Ole Miss stretched its lead to double digits and would lead by as many as 16 points on two different occasions. With the win, the Rebels improve to 29-6 all-time in season openers and have now won six of their last seven.
Ole Miss returns to action Sunday afternoon as the Rebels look to claim the tournament championship against Davidson at 12:00 p.m. (CT).

However from the few games I watched we get out Coached by the bigger schools. The X' & O's. Our talent is much better than our outcome outside of the MEAC. It does not show against the meac or sub-par schools. Even if you have great talent its going to take a little more than a great half time speech to beat a major Div I team that you have the lead on or are in the game at half time.

Rebels outscore Aggies 53-30 in the second half
ROCK HILL, S.C., November 15, 2008 – The North Carolina A&T women’s basketball wants to be regarded as one of the better teams in not only the MEAC but the nation. Following the Aggies season-opening 80-64 loss to Ole Miss, head coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs explained to her team exactly what it will take to earn such consideration. Forty minutes.
Brittanie Taylor-James led the Aggies with 18 points and six rebounds on 8-for-8 shooting free throw line. Jaleesa Sams chipped in with 10 points for the Aggies who were playing in the first game of the Winthrop Tournament being played at the Winthrop Coliseum.
“I thought we played well today, but not well enough to win,’’ said Bibbs. “We executed in the first half, but I told the ladies it is all about that will to win. This game has been 40 minutes as far as I can remember and that’s the way you have to approach it.
You have to sustain that intensity for 40 minutes. We knew they would come at us aggressively in the second half. We have to learn to play with that same urgency no matter what the score is.”
Similar to other upset bids during the Bibbs era at N.C. A&T, the Aggies played an inspired first half. The Aggies and the Rebels went back-and-forth for most of the first half. The two teams produced six times until the two-minute mark of the first half.
A Taylor-James jumper gave the Aggies a 28-24 lead with 1:39 remaining in the first half. A three-point play by Ole Miss’ Katorra Lewis cut the lead to one. But baskets by Lamona Smalley, Ta’Wuana Cook and Tyronnica Alford gave the Aggies a 34-27 halftime lead.
But Ole Miss began to establish a presence in the paint. They out-rebounded the Aggies 29-14 in the second half and 50-32 for the game. The Rebels also had 26-14 advantage in points in the paint in the second half. They used it to take a 51-48 lead with nine minutes remaining.
But preseason MEAC Player of the Year Amber Bland, who played sparingly because of foul trouble, hit a three to tie the game at 51. But the Rebels went on an 11-1 run capped off by an Elizabeth Robertson 3-pointer to give the Rebels a 52-42 advantage with six minutes to play. The Aggies never got any closer to nine after the Rebels run.
“I thought foul trouble played a factor,’’ said Bibbs, who saw three starters earn four fouls, while top reserve Lamona Smalley fouled out.
“But I really think the biggest thing was the fact that we were really out-rebounded,’’ Bibbs continued. “We have to get our hands on the ball so we can have the possessions needed to win the game.”
The Aggies will play in the tournament’s consolation game against host Winthrop at 1 p.m., on Sunday.

Bibbs is a great coach and recruiter but it's gonna be hard to move up to the next level without a dominant rebounder and/or shot blocker. She's gotta recruit some decent girls over 6-3.
