I am on fellowship this year at Duke and I just received this email:
A Dawn of a New Day is here for Duke Football and we are looking forward seeing you out here on Oct 18th. The reason we are saying we are looking forward seeing you is because Duke Football is giving each department a $10 ticket rate for the Miami game. Each department must purchase a min. of 20 tickets to receive the $10 rate. We are trying to fill Wallace Wade and are looking for your help to cheer on Duke to a victory on the 18th. The team is counting on our continuing support this season. WE AREā¦ DUKE
Do you think we could do this at A&T? I think this may be a good way to promote school spirit among the faculty of an institution and help faculty feel connected to university life beyond their classroom and office hours. It could also help towards filling the stadium. Do you think our faculty and our athletic administration would be interested or willing?

I think the faculty already get some kind of discount. Don't get me to lying though...

Don't want you to lie. There is no discount.

The Coastal Carolina game was staff/faculty appreciation day. Staff/faculty could purchase tickets for $10.

There is a faculty and staff appreciation day, but it is not that well publicized. I dare say that most employees had no idea that this past Saturday was appreciation day. Even with that discount, many don't really have a major interest in Aggie sports. With the exception of that day, there is no discount. An employee pays the same as everyone else for season tickets to football and basketball games. Most employees don't complain (and should not) about not having a discount because they know that athletics has a real need for money.

Yeah but when attendance is down because you've only won two games in the past three years or when you are trying to build faculty and campus interest in a program that is on the verge of turning around (such is the case with Duke) then why not try some kind of outreach program? All it takes is a commitment from the athletic department and a push of a button to send a mass email to faculty letting them know about it.
