Can recruit the state... XXXXX (hasn't been here in eons). Will create a HUGE national buzz... XXXXX (only for one week, tops) Has a nationwide networ... Check Will have the money to use his nationwide network to recruit... XXXXX Has NC ties... Check Can win... XXXXX See above post regarding the successes of former I-A coaches at hbcus. It simply does not work. Faced with the decision of hiring Tyrone Willingham, or the coach from Dudley, give me Tyrone on any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

aggie62, my personal belief is that we have "zero" chances of hiring willingham, mainly because i think he would be insulted to fall so low and would have no interest in coaching at any hbcu. but that's just my opinion.
but the point i was making about winning in the pac 10 versus winning in the meac, is that the pac 10 has resources we could never dream of having. "generally", their assistant coaches are more qualified than many of the meac's head coaches.
game planning for the usc trojans is far more challenging than game planning for any hbcu in the country. a lot hbcu's could never dream of the knowledge and high tech tools coaches in the pac 10 have available to them. game planning in the pac 10 is far more sophisticated than game planning in the meac.
so the point i was making is that willingham's "head coaching" experience at the highest level of collegiate football, far exceeds any head coach in hbcu football. he's a very intelligent man, you don't get hired by stanford if you're not. and he's "highly" qualified, you don't get hired by notre dame if you're not. add to that, he's a black man, and i rest my case...

Lou Holts came back to the Carolinas and was able to recruit and compete.

Willingham would make more money doing Color for ESPN than he would at A&T.
Ole School is right, coaching the Aggies would not do anything for his resume. I'm sure he could get a position coach position in the NFL, or be an assistant at BCS school.

Ty Willingham is undoubtedly headed back to the pros on someone's staff next year where he got his start as coach so ya'll can let go of that pipe dream.
