PJ give us a short breakdown on the new incoming players. Marc Hill Dwane Joshua Brock Moorman Nic Simpson Jared Williams Will any of them besides Marc Hill contribute? Don't worry 'bout it PJ, I got it. lol Marc Hill - PJ is right. Has good handle and is cleary the best recruit. I hate and I mean detest super small guards, but I'll be honest, Eaves should start him right away and live with his mistakes. The offense doesn't suit him though. Dwane Joshua- No comment. Brock Moorman - Eaves must've saw this guy play on the best night of his life. Role player. May have a good game here or there but not impressive. Nic Simpson - A good offseason and this kid can start to contribute. Out of all of the recruits, Eaves' system will benefit him the most by his junior year. He has a decent shot and his handle will get better. Jared Williams - Needs development. Type of player that will develop greatly with competent one-on-one workouts from a knowledgeable coach. At that point, he'll be a decent role player. With the exception of Hill, all of these players will likely fold against the good teams in our conference. But the team is young and the coach isn't that good, so that is to be expected. In a single statement, don't expect much and you'll enjoy the games a lot more!

AggieRob ..any besides Marc?... Duane Joshua is likely to help. ================ Man, I left my notes at home...lol And I'm still learning faces but: >Marc Hill...is solid..a pass first type Chris Paul type point guard >Dwane Joshua. Bearded Brother, can play the # 1 or 2 spots. Seems a little too cool...ended up with 14 points...decent in traffic. Needs more fire. >Brock Moorman: Tall...its too early to tell..role player so far. >Nic Simpson: its early...# 2 guard...not a lot of mins...on sat Jared Williams: its early ...# 2 guard...not a lot of mins...on sat. ===== The team is built for speed...it seems to me.

aahhbigboy Thanks...I didnt see your post. Marc is short....and the team needs to learn his game...because if you are open He'll find you it seems. I believe that Tavarus will start..as he did hit a few three's and was ok.

ed jones' contributions will be critical this season. last year he showed flashes, especially against dsu in delaware. i was at that game and dsu had no answer for ej that night, they simply couldn't stop him. the problem though is that ej wasn't "consistent" last year. if he can be more consistent and play at or near an "all meac" level this year, we may have some hope.
and i'm making a prediction that before marc hill graduates, he could become the best point guard in aggie basketball history, despite his height (5'8"). hill is the bishop mcnamara high school grad out of the powerful wcac conference in the washington, dc area. aggie nation, you're gonna luv this kid! he's the real deal. he was 1 assist away from a double-double in the scrimmage game, not bad for a 5'8" true freshman in his first college exhibition. he had 15 points, 9 assists, 3 steals, and only 4 turnovers in 43 minutes of action.
however, the rest of the newcomers weren't nearly as productive. except dwane joshua who had 14 points and 7 rebs, but he also had a "whopping" 7 turnovers. plus, he's a junior college transfer, so we'll only have him one more year.
the other freshmen (moorman, simpson, williams) "combined" for a measly 3 points! oh well, early on it doesn't look good for "kentucky" talent! simpson is a 2 star rivals.com guard from kentucky who was 1 for 6 shooting and scored 3 points. guess how many points kentucky native moorman and late signee williams scored? goose eggs!
of course, i wasn't at the scrimmage, so i'll reserve final judgments until i've seen these kids with my own eyes...

oleschoolaggie I agree EJ must be solid each night. I wish that He would assume a Jason Wills type of "going to the basket" vibe to put pressure on the defense and the refs. Some nights whenever your shot is not falling, one needs to go to the line to help the team. Especially during the crunch or if your man has fouls. Jason did a great job of this.
We need Coleman to keep developing & to score. If he adds a consistent, facing the basket ,shot near the elbow on the high pic that he sets, then we will really have something. His big man will not follow him. It will be there all night for him.

How does Kam Shepherd look this year?

Shepard seems to be a role player.....rebounding. I would like to see more of an urgency vibe from him. He is laid back. He did get 9 rebounds but you would not know it. He needs an offensive focus just to keep his defender from cheating off of him. Has a Tim Duncan demeanor.

McClurkin is the sleeper to me. The brother runs all game, and gets out on the break like Scotty Pipkin. Doors will open with Him, EJ, & whoever else with the ball on the break. They kept their legs all game. I want to see the Merchant Marine game.

Though I'm optimistic, I'm not as optimistic as PJ. This team is suspect at every position except PG. Unless both Alston and Hill, simply disappear from stage fright, the PG position should average between 12-15 assists and at least 15-20 points a night.
I’m surprised no one mentioned Robert Johnson, he has to be the most improved player. Though I haven’t seen him play that much, dude has slimmed down and looked have grown an inch or two, but has extended his shooting range. Let’s hope he doesn’t become addicted to the three. I’m projecting him a starter.
This team goes as does Jones, Wilson and Coleman. These three have to be finishers, because they will be getting the ball in position to score.
I don’t see a rotation of more than eight with significant minutes. The bulk probably going to Alston (1), Wilson(2), Jones(3), Johnson(4), Coleman(5), Hill, McClurkin, Joshua
I don’t see much playing time for the other freshmen and it may be best to redshirt them. This scrimmage was only one a snapshot but the others probably will not provide much offensive or defensive punch to get consistent playing time.

Ok, so who is Jonathan Cothran? He's listed at 6-7 on the mens basketball roster. Did he play?

Jonathan Cothran? I dont know either. He was not in the box score & I'm still learing faces.
77, I like the PG's too. I just need to see if they have a Rashard West/Hampton type "floater",... (being so short), when in the lane. ========== McClurkin & Porter are the ones who will need to sure up the team, either with defense Porter( needs to be an enforcer) or offense with Mc & his running and motion. ===== I don't know the identity of the team. It can be shaped. A&T needs to be A&T again. The brothers need to leave it on the court night after night....& the Dawg Pound will have their back. Football is grinding down now. And the Lady Aggies are doing their part.

Listen, the mens squad is highly pissed off that they were listed to finish eighth in the conference. They feel like they have something to prove to all of us fans. That was the reason for the intensity at the scrimmage the other day. What we saw will spill off into the season. The vow to take it (intense play) to whoever they play this season. Watch what they do to the merchant marines!!! The two Greensboro fellas (Alston and Johnson) promises to step it up this season. Otherwise we can eat their Azz's alive.

I can find nothing on the internet about him. Let me guess...............a walk-on from Aggie intramurals. yes he is a walk-on... he was very valuable last yr. providing added depth at practice... so this yr. he was added to the roster... programs need kids like this to help fill bodies where there is a shortage... i'm glad eaves rewarded this youg mans sacrifice with a roster spot...
