the official start of basketball practice begins this weekend and the pride of aggieland, our women's basketball team, gives us our best chance to win a championship this year! in my opinion, this team is "the pride of aggieland"! we know what to expect from this year's 11 returnees, but what about the newcomers?
we know a little bit about bibbs' 2 member freshman recruiting class. she brought in some post help in 6'2" nakia deblanc from pennsylvania and a defensive specialist in 5'10" guard tierra thomas from maryland. however, there's 2 additional new names on bibbs' roster this year and they're both guards. lavon woods from baltimore and reisha bullock from new orleans.
having previously coached women's aau basketball for many years, i know for a fact that top notch talent comes out of the washington/baltimore and new orleans areas, but i know very little about the aggie new arrivals.
i've gotta figure, any new guards that bibbs added to the roster must be pretty good players because she was already loaded with talent at the guard positions. so what's the scoop on the new players? has anyone seen these kids play yet? will any of them step in and have impact immediately like jaleesa sams did last year? i know women's basketball fly under the radar somewhat in aggieland, but this team represents our best hope to bring home the gold this year...

Womens basketball doesn't fly under the radar with me. I can't wait to see the ladies play as I will be in attendance for thier first two games at the Winthrop Tournament. Two years ago I made a far fetched prediction that this team would crack the top 25. Ok, maybe that was reaching a little bit but I do think they can be top 50.

Per Coach Bibbs "Reisha Bullock " is and outstanding talent, ranked in top 20 in USA by some scouting service (I don't remember which one). She was saying how the conference is getting top recruits now that would not consider our schools in the past.
She told the other coaches that this is our year.Sounded very confident and spoke highly of all four recruits.

wow! first team all state! and she comes from kenner, louisiana, a suburb of new orleans.
in women's aau basketball, kenner is a "national" powerhouse! i know because i've coached teams on the national level that's competed against kenner teams and i'm almost willing to say i recognize her, by face, as one of the kids my team played against.
plus, she won the state high school championship in the 100 meters! can you spell "SPEED"! wow! can't wait to see her play.
if bibbs lets her run, looks like our women's track team just got a big bonus!!
