That's a well written letter. It also captures my sentiment exactly. The first indignity was the way they removed Renick's name from the Education Building. This latest action adds insult to injury.

I'm glad to have someone like Pamela Johnson representing me.

I talked to Velma...She said she was not behind the act. She is totally for passing the blame, if she did it for not.

Renick did not do anything improper or illegal. Battle is just an insecure brother with the personality of a "stop sign". Also I have heard that there is another letter being circulated to alums from some big money giver out of Florida who is pissed about the whole situation. Battle is not that popular with a lot of aggie right now.

One problem I have about the hiring of Chancellor Battle is that the finalist names were never revealed. That always spells trouble when a so-called national search reveals no information about who were recruited or at least who were the finalists. This type of secret process is always done to prevent criticism. Please don't throw the candidtates' privacy issue around. I've seen and heard too many college president searches for that excuse to fly.

I was told that the present chancellor at NCCU was one of the finalist. From what I here from people that have met him they all say that he is a really nice person and has a great personality. Whether he is competent or not, I don't have a clue.

Fort was dry too, but he cleaned up the infrastructure of A&T and is directly responsible for the gains the university has experienced through the last decade. Renick was cheerleader, I am not sure about his administration choices.

I've seen and heard too many college president searches for that excuse to fly. I personally liked the way we used to do the searches, with a closed search. Using a closed search allows in theory for better canidates for the job. I have heard about some of the finalists, but we all have to understand that the search is a formality if the UNC President chooses to. Look at WSSU, Dr. Martin never applied for the job, he was appointed interim and then confirmed by then President Broad. (PM me and I'll discuss further my views on Presidential searches...since hopefully I'll have to be apart of one) Now on the Renick fiasco. I've seen the damage, but regardless he (and those who worked with him, through the support of the UNC-General Admin) did alot of wonderful things for the campus; and by virtue of him being the Chancellor he should be respected still. Also, i'm hearing a rumor that the new SOE building will now be named after Dr. Cosby. I haven't had time to go to my sources to confirm it.

AggiePride, it's clear you did not know anything about Renick. If you did you would know he was much more than a cheerleader. There are things he did for A&T that most people don't know about. There were and still are people and corporations that gave and continue to give to A&T because of their relationship with Renick. I don't see anything wrong with being a cheerleader for your university if you are the leader. It's an old saying that says "It's a poor frog that does not praise his own pond".

What the helll does Bill Cosby have to do with A&T? Bill Cosby has not donated one thin dime to A&T. This has got to be a joke!!!!
