the main question to ask is where will the tournament be next yr.. ... i think this yrs. turn-out showed the folks in raleigh the potential that exist... i would call this yrs. tournament a moderate success... more people attended... the games were exciting on both the women & men side... the bonus game was a plus... my family enjoyed themselves... the tourny is still a work in progress though... i have some thoughts on some things... but what are your thoughts... for starters... the meac has got to find it's niche... it has to come to realization that it will never be the next ciaa... but that doesn't mean it can't be a lively.. classy tournament... with great entertainment... free entertainment... & great basketball also... the meac has to find out how to package itself to gain more momentum... it's getting there... slowly... but getting there...

More celebrities would work...there are more celebrities at A&T homecoming than there is at the MEAC tournament...U can find all the hott celebs at the CIAA tourney...like Chris Brown, Keyshia Cole, Mary J, Bow Wow, Omarion, etc.

Hey, "Mr. CIAA" was at the MEAC this year. Maybe he is thinking about becoming "Mr. MEAC". Is he considered a celeb???

I'm hoping for something a little more up-scaled than Hip-Hop artists.

Hey, "Mr. CIAA" was at the MEAC this year. Maybe he is thinking about becoming "Mr. MEAC". Is he considered a celeb??? when mr. ciaa shows up at your event he is saying you're on to something big... he gives your tournament "street cred"... is mr ciaa a celeb... ... i'd say so... he did nothing but take pictures & sign autographs the whole time there...

the meac is growing... not very fast... but growing just the same... now is the time to put a deputy commissioner in place whos only concearn is the basketball tournament... that's all he or she & their committee should be concentrating on... 365 days a yr... but like i said earlier... you have to define what your niche is in the world of bball tournaments... i mean lets face facts... the ciaa is... what it is... monster parties... monster entertainment... monster social activities that are free... the ciaa is a tournament on steroids... but how does the meac compete with that you ask... ... you don't... you feed off of it... you market the meac as the "after party" to the ciaa... same entertainment... same parties... same free social events... but it's all being done in conjuction to extend the festivities from one tournament to the next... & slowly wind everyone down by tournys end... the meac niche should be... the "after party" to the ciaa... with the future goal being... that "after party"... on steroids...!!!!!!

still the ? remains... where will the meac be next yr... will it be back in raleigh..?? norfolk.. w-s.. gboro..?? it's hard to say but lets take a look at what each arena site has to offer... raleigh: i know the meac is trying to grow there... but there are things the meac is not taking advantage of... like how to bring the crowd to the rbc area... you could set up huge tents outside the arena to house free social events... the fair grounds are not being utilized... dorton arena is not being utilized... finding things to have in these areas is crucial to the "after party" on STEROIDS GOAL... w-s: one big advatage is the annex right next to the joel ( some early gms. could be played there)... plus you have the fair grounds right there & the minor league baseball park is right there... since baseball season is starting you could have the "meac urban league baseball challenge" (absolutely free of course) ... one draw back to that idea is mother nature... but it's a thought... norfolk: you have the convention center right there at the scope... & the scope is in walking distance to downtown... norfolk has invested a lot in it's downtown making it an entertainment venue like charlotte... gboro: you have the annex that can play 2 games at the same time... you have the pavillion right there... plus war memorial auditorium next door... there is alot that could be happening at one location in conjunction with the tournament... having multiple events going on at the coliseum site is something to think about with the gas prices the way they are... & another thing to remember is that people with tickets to the gms will have to be able to come & go from the coliseum without a hassle... there could be certain venues that are free... & certain ones where you need to buy a ticket but game tickets allow you to get in where ever...
