I don't care if he worked with THE CHARGERS, Smalls is going to tell him which play to run. All of the things we are talking about should have been addressed in the spring instead of now. How is he going to add wrinkles to the offense, If we keep running the same formations other teams will still know whats coming. If the staff was thinking they should have been adding formations and plays every week to the playbook. Adding 5 to 8 plays and formations a week is not hard, by doing this the offense stays ahead of the other teams defense. This also adds depth to the playbook.

I honestly think Small doesn't really work with the offense at all. He just lets the coordinator run the show for the most part.
I don't have a problem with running the same formations. I do have a problem with do it when it ain't working. Judging from the games I saw (which would be all of them) we dang near looked like a different team every week. Formations were different and plays were somewhat different. Not much continuity.

Continuity
Thats my whole point. Nothing is going to work if the continuity is not there. Should have worked on that in the spring.

Smalls needs to have an idea about offense because he needs to remind the OC not to run pass 80-20. He is the HEAD COACH. He needs to know a little bit of everything about offense and defense.

Schoolfield's days were numbered and the rest of the coaching staff may as well update their resumes.... Can someone please let me know what types of plays the Offensive Line Coach (Berry) will be calling since he is also from the same "coaching fraternity" as Schoolfield... So what he Interned with the San Diego Chargers!!! Since Mike Steward will also be calling plays, maybe he will finally get to speak in the coaches meetings and get the Tight Ends involved in the offense .... I thought that we would have our 1-2 Punch back this week in the backfield since Brandon Sweeney will be returning; but Quante' Speight sprained his knee in the Circle City Classic and is being held out this week. (Not even traveling with the team this Saturday) and Chaz Truesdale is still limping....Hope to see everyone at FEDEX Field on Saturday.. GOOD LUCK to the Coaching Staff and the AGGIES this weekend.....

25kaggiebooster,
You made a great point, Where are the Tight ends at!!!!!!! Why is no one including them in the offense. We run our backs into the ground but we don't throw any to the tight ends to ease the load on our backs. I'm also wondering if we have a Special Teams Coach. We have not ran any kick offs or punts back for Touchdowns. The Head Coach gets paid six figures but he can't figure this out.

I'm still not convinced it is not personell as well. I hope I'm wrong and we have a nice tight end on the team or a WR or QB looking to break out. It's got to be hard on those kids though. Hopefully they will just go deeper into the playbook they already have instead of changing the plays completely.
The firing was overdue though. This may quiet a lot of critics calling for Smalls head if the offense can pick up now. Anyone can call off-tackle right, off-tackle left, quick-slants, dives, and Draws all game.
One more thing. I know its old, but I had to get this out. When we scored on the trick play against Hampton I did not know at the time that the play was directly from the remake of "The Longest Yard". Our OC stole a play from a movie to score a TD! I just watched the DVD and my mouth was wide open when they ran that play at the end. Pathetic, just pathetic. Could you imagagine being in the huddle during the timeout.
Schoofield: Anyone here seen "The Longest Yard" Reco: yeah coach, what about it? Schoofield:Well, we running the play from the end of the movie. Reco: Which movie? The original or the one in the movies right now? Schoolfield: The one I went to Carmick to see last night when I was stuck on new play ideas. Reco: OK, I always wanted to be an actor Schoolfield:Well tonight you get your chance son.
LOL, I could go for days. Thats just to funny.

We won't ever know because this staff won't throw to the TE, and use wr mainly to block. As for qbs, I believe they're scared to play a good qb.

Did that movie come out in the late 80's, because I saw Randall Cuningham run the same damn play when he was with the Eagles. It worked back then too.

It came out in the late 70s or early 80s. I cant remember, but that play wasn't ran in the original movie. Just the remake.
We saw that play against Hampton and the double reverse pass against TSU. The fumbleroosky was next at Homecoming. I see we got rid of that gimmick a$$ kickoff as well. Thank God!

The Aggie Monster,
That was funny!!!!!!! Schoolfield was desperate. This is the second time he was fired over the same thing. It's going to be hard for him to find employment.
