I just came back from the press conference announcing the renewal of the A&T-WSSU game next Labor Day weekend. Most of the things said by the AD's and the coaches were about how good it will be for the two school's to renew the rivalry and the financial benefits for both school. One thing that was said by WSSU's AD was that he had been in meetings with the MEAC where they were discussing the possibility of adding 2 more schools other than WSSU. He talked about the possibility of forming 2 divisions, North and South, and having an MEAC championship game between the 2 divisions. Sounds like the MEAC may be planning to opt out of the D1AA playoffs in the future.

Sounds like the MEAC may be planning to opt out of the D1AA playoffs in the future. This may be true, but I don't believe that all of the schools will be in support of opting out of the playoffs. In particular...us, Hampton, FAMU, SCSU. It may be workable short-term, but I don't think Todd and Renick will roll with that indefinitely!

Questions:
1. Was a day for the game discussed (Saturday or Sunday)? 2. Any other events planned (concert, alumni parties...)? 3. Possible cost of tickets, revenue expected to be generated?

Once you expand you just can't go backwards. Thomas is doing this with the blessings of the repective Presidents. Also, Todd is coming from the ACC, where guess what, they just went to expansion of the conference, an ACC Championship game and a season ending Bowl Game.

This is nothing but the truth. The adding of new schools, a conference game all must have the blessings of the campus leadership. If they didn't want to add new schools or a championship game we...and damn sure WSSU's AD wouldn't be talking about it.

Change is inevitable. However, opting out of the playoffs.....ehhh, not so sure that's a good move. Yeh, the ACC did it, but they're still competing for National Championships through that Bootleg Champion Supplier deal.
