Courtney Hawkins led the Spartans with 18 points against North Carolina A&T. Nov. 27, 2007 GREENSBORO, N.C. - A hot-shooting North Carolina A&T hit 51.5 of its shots for the game, as it posted a 92-54 win over the USC Upstate women's basketball team in non-conference action at the Corbett Sports Center on Tuesday night. Sophomore Courtney Hawkins (Greer, S.C./Greer) led the Spartans (2-4 overall) with 18 points and five assists. Freshman Kasey Thompson (Converse, Ind./Oak Hill) added 11 points and two 3-pointers. Both junior Courtney Bradley (Columbia, S.C./Dutch Fork) and freshman Tiffany Whiting (Troutman, N.C./South Iredell) added four assists. Freshman Oceana Jackson (Carnesville, Ga./Franklin County) saw her string of consecutive 10-point games snap at five, as she posted nine points, five rebounds and four steals. "We ran into a very good team on Tuesday," Upstate head coach Tammy George said. "They were more aggressive and it showed all night." The Aggies (5-1 overall) were led by five players in double-digits, with Amber Bland posting 17 points, Lonise Coulter and Jaleesa Sams each added 13, Brittan Taylor-James posted 12 and Lamona Smalley added 10. The Aggies shot 54.3 percent from the field in the first half, Amber Bland pacing the team with nine points and Nancy Rembert adding seven, helping the team take a 46-24 lead into the lockerroom. The Spartans and Aggies battled through the first four minutes, with the Aggies holding a 10-7 lead before the Aggies used an up-tempo offense to stake out a 17-0 run over the next eight minutes to take a 27-7 lead before a layup from Jackson fell through with 8:14 left. The Spartan offense was led in the first half by Hawkins, who connected on three 3-pointers and posted 13 points in the half, and Jackson, who posted six points. The North Carolina A&T offense slowed slightly in the early part of the second half, but gained momentum, with a 3-pointer from Nancy Rembert with two seconds left providing the final margin.

Wow. The Lady Aggies were already a solid team at the beginning of the season and are still improving. This could be a very special season….and most of the team returns next year!
By mentioning this, whoever wrote the article didn't appreciate Rembert jacking up a 3 at the end of the game. This does seem to pour salt in a wound.

Tha three at the end was a little excessive but I wouldn't worry to much. I love the way they crush overmatched opponents.

This does seem to pour salt in a wound. They can pour all the salt they want until they win a championship. They must keep an edge. They can dribble the game out next year this time when winning is old hat.

We are the New England Patriots of women's college basketball.
If you don't like us running up the score, play some defense.

We are the New England Patriots of women's college basketball. Or at least of the MEAC.
