The Norfolk State men’s and women’s basketball teams will host Midnight Madness on Friday, Oct. 19 at Joseph Echols Hall. Doors will open at 8 p.m.
Midnight Madness signals the start of basketball season. The teams begin practice on Friday, Oct. 12, but are unable to sponsor Midnight Madness that night due to the Battle of the Bans between NSU and Hampton at Echols Hall.
Midnight Madness gives fans a chance to meet NSU’s two new basketball coaches, interim men’s head coach Anthony Evans and head women’s coach Tara Owens, and catch a first glimpse of both basketball teams.
The night will begin with intrasquad scrimmages for the men’s and women’s teams, as well as 3-point and slam dunk contests.
Fans can also enter a pair of skills contests to win one of two $20,000 prizes. Several local businesses will also conduct other giveaways and raffles for those in attendance.
The evening will conclude with a performance by G-Unit Records recording artist Young Buck and the winners of MTV’s Making the Band 4.
Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 for students with ID. Tickets can be purchased by calling (757) 823-9009 or logging onto tickets.nsu.edu.
