Even though we lead the conference in attendance and the Dawg Pound is widely recgonized as one of the most electric atmospheres in college basketball, we probably only bring in about $35 a game after expenses. Most of the people who fill the building each night are students - and they get in free.
Is there a realistic way to dramatically increase our season tickets sales next season and attract some big time corporate sponsors?
Can men's basketball ever be a cash cow at A&T?

I'm in the V Club and I gets all kind of info and order forms for football but unless it got lost in the mail nothing for basketball. I would have happily bought two season tickets for basketball.

Random ideas:
Step 1 is we've got to do a basketball radio broadcast next season. People in the area have to know that we exist and that the BB games are exciting and fun. We have room for about 1800 more folks to sell out a game. A radio broadcast can also sell sponsorships to local advertisers. Anyone that markets to young people.
Step 2. We have to market the games to local high schoolers. The atmosphere would be fun and they have to help pack out the gym with incremental income.
Steps 1&2 could yield a minimum extra 1,000 paying fans per game.
Step 3. For 2008, Host a Holiday Tournament at the Greensboro Coliseum. With the right teams that could make at least $25,000.
Step 4. Do the Aggie Winterfest-Greensboro Four Weekend. February 1st falls on a Friday next year.
Step 5. Get a local TV station to broadcast ONE of our games next season. I don't know how but we've got to capitalize on the ESPNU exposure locally. May be able to convince the ABC affiliate.
Step 6. As DEX alluded to, do a season ticket sales campaign. Maybe even at the MEAC tournament next week with a goal to sell 1000 season tickets for basketball. That's $75,000 right there. I don't know how much we do now but probably not 1000.

Step 7. Enhance the concessions to include a signature gold handheld (towel, pom pom, something). Someone on the board suggested this earlier in the year(I forgot who). Kick it off with a giveaway (First X hundred are free.) and sell the rest throughout the season. Create an atmosphere where if you don't have one you feel like you need one. And they are cheap enough($2) that everyone can get one. People will always lose or forget them and have to buy another.

That was my Aggie Rag idea, circa 2004.

I've always like the Aggie Towel/Rag idea. Really wish a lot more fans would wear gold t-shirts (i.e, Solid Gold Campaign)

I went to two Saturday games and could not buy a reserve seat so either there is a big walk up or a lot of season tickets have been sold.

A lot of season tickets were sold, a whole lot. When I bought mine there were maybe 20 left and that was two weeks before the season started.

I have season tickets even though i have not been to a game in Corbett this season. I bought them to support the program. I live to far away to go to a regular game. I will be in Dover tonight.
