Doesn't Bibbs already make more money than Eaves? Isn't her budget greater than Eaves's? Maybe that's why she's turned things around a little faster. Eaves did say that he'd be winnin by year four, which is what he's doin. Like others have said, find somone who could do it better than Eaves for same price, and under the same budget restraints, then I'd agree to wait until season's end.

Doesn't Bibbs already make more money than Eaves? The Raleigh News & Observer did a story last year about bball coaches salaries and reported both of our coaches made around 78K. A Bibbs vs Eaves comparison is not even close to being fair. A successful 20+ year head coach vs. someone who's coming into their own. No comparsion. I hope we keep Bibbs for a very long time and I'm glad we're resigning Eaves.

Coach Bibbs is one of the coaching pioneers of NCAA women's basketball. You have Stringer of Rutgers, the Tennessee coach along with a small number of others. We are very lucky to have Coach Bibbs as our coach because she is a winner. Coach Bibbs' teams will beat any team sans the top 50.
Please do not make the mistake of comparing NCAA Division I mens basketball industry with the women's. Both are competitive but the prize money is huge on the men's side which means having little money for your program is like having a knife in a gun fight. Salaries for the men's program are higher than the women's program because the return on that money is greater.
True, I know Bobby Collins and he is a good coach but not resigning Eaves and hiring Collins is like trading six eggs for a half of dozen eggs. You will get almost the same thing but at a much higher cost of restarting all over again. A&T had a chance to hire Delaware State coach, Jackson, when he was at NCCU but now we couldn't afford him. He makes $200,000 and his top assistants get paid what Eaves is making now.
Collins took over a championship team at Hampton U which he help to make as an assistant coach but Eaves took over a down and out program with a budget more strangling than restrictive. Eaves has the program recovering along with a new contract that he can show his recruits and their parents. I am hopeful, Eaves will be able to get that elusive 6'9" player who can chew bubblegum and run at the same time along with having a nice shot. This kind of player is whole lot easier for us to say than for A&T to get. Do you think Del State's blue chipper and star player Bryant could have come to A&T with a gun conviction in his shirt pocket? Big men are hard to come by but I am sure you will see one that will be more serviceable on the team next year but most likely he will need some 'seasoning'.

It's like comparing apples and oranges. And quite frankly, I believe Eaves is a better coach than Collins. Just one man's opinion...

Only at A&T would you find the womens program with a larger scholarship and recuiting budget. Coach Bibbs is making good use of it!! Now would the AD do the same for the mens budget???

Thanks, Truthseeker.
I wasn't comparing Cage-Bibbs with Eaves. If that's what some got out of my post, I apologize. I was comparing their budgets without explicitly sayin it. My man, who's familiar with both programs, told me that the women's budget is larger than the men's.
I also think Eaves is a better coach than Collins. Again, Collins's budget at Hampton was larger than Eaves's. Eaves is winnin games with several walk-ons and has them playin well.

With all the exposure b'ball has been getting lately by being on ESPNU..... A&T has shown it has the atmosphere to rival that at Cameron.... which is something no one expected from an hbcu!!! The aggie students and those of you on BDV are primarily responsible with how "T" has been regarded across the nation..... because now not only have they heard "AGGIE PRIDE"..... now they have seen "AGGIE PRIDE"!!!! If there ever is a time for some one to take a bow it is now..... so Bonethrilla & Bluedeath..... TAKE A BOW!!!!
Because I bet if ESPNU could drop all the MEAC tv games and replace them with ours.... they would in a heartbeat!!!!
Now we must keep this thing building.... yes I know if the team can put up some "Ws" would be a boost!! But we have to look farther down the road than that..... we have to demand to our AD that b'ball mens & women get the recruiting dollars to go nation wide!! Why... do you ask??? Because before... I've said if b'ball was funded properly we could do what Ganzaga & Butler are doing.... well BDV I was wrong ..... if b'ball was funded properly..... we could more than Gonzaga..... WE COULD WIN A NATIONAL TITLE!!!!! All I'm asking from BDV is to share the dream and tell the AD it's time to shoot for the stars!!!!!

I've been on the Duke message board on scout.com the last couple of days, and even they are giving the Dawg Pound props. Truth be told, the Cameron crazies use detailed cheer sheets to get all their students on the same page, whereas the stuff that happens in Corbett is totally spontaneous.
Personally, I think we allow our fans to get as close to the court (and sometimes on the court) more than any school in college basketall. When the Hampton players fouled out Monday night, members of the Dawg Pound were damn near standing in front of his empty seat waiting for him to sit down.

Didn't Eaves coach at Howard? I think he knew about Black College basketball prior to coming to A&T........You are right, A&T has lost recruits to lost recruits to High Point, App St, Uncg , Hampton, and Del state in recent yrs

It's time for the AD to quit handicapping the mens b'ball program.... get out of the coaches way.... fund the program properly..... and give the coaches a chance to let it take off!!!
Because right now every coach "T" has fired can all say the same thing.... " if you had funded the program properly we could have been successful"!!!
Break the cycle..... fund the program!!!

numberonebrave, Eaves was mentored at Howard by none other than the well traveled Butch Beard. We all know his track record at Howard and Morgan. Eaves also did a stint at Louisville and the pros.

Funny you would mention Butch Beard and Coach Eaves at Howard. At last night's game, they had a 25th anniversary tribute to the 91-92 Bison team that won the MEAC, Coached by Butch Beard and Jerry Eaves and Bill Sutton.
