IS there anyway we can do this for the next ESPNU game? I am sure the dawg pound would go bannanas.
All we would need to do is cut off the lights and shine a spotlight on the A&T bench. Once the PA announcer calls out the last Aggie starter you would then turn the lights back on. No need for a lazer light show or smoke or anything like that.
Just play our intro music, kill the lights, shine a spotlight on each starting player and that's it.
Can we make this happen?

Don't those type of lights have to warm up to reach peak illumination?

I mean, don't we do practically the same thing everything there's a step show or concert held at Corbett? I am sure there's a precedent for it.

THeres NO way that can happen. It takes 25 minutes or longer for the lights to warm back up once you cut them off.

While I enjoy watching the extreme enthusiasm the students show for the team I can't help but think back to 1989. We're practically breeding the possibility for that sort of thing to reoccur and if you thought the news was overkill back then, keep in mind that was before the internet.
I would hope we have proper safeguards in place to ensure proper control in case things get out of hand. That would include turning off the lights prior to team entry and letting students sit so close to the opposing bench.

Well then, how is it possible for other schools to do this? I remember Arkansas did this in 1991 fo their regular season game against UNLV.
What type of setup do they have that we obviously don't have? How much would it cost to get that type of setup at Corbett?

And aggiemarketingman, don't be so quick to write things off as being impossible. Instead, let's explore creative ways in which we can make our wildest dreams come true.

Maybe it is as simple as installing a dimmer switch, that way we can turn the lights down instead of off, thereby not requiring them to warm-up. That would also keep the arena from going completely dark.

Dude, this is a TECHNICAL University. We have helped put people in outter space.
There is no way someone can convince me that this can't be done.

Im not quick to write anything off. However, this is somethig that I have explored and had numerous discussions about (over a year ago) and I was informed that All the lighting in Corbett would have to be redone and of course theres a price tag associated with doing all of that. Theres some kind of switch that i was told we would have to have. (pretty nice price tag.) To answer your second question.. "how can other schools do it".. well when other schools build their facilities they involve athletics. Please remember that Corbett is/ was not ours. That building is a physical education building and was built to their specifications. So dont think im writing things off.. just know that if an idea is put out here.. 8 outta 10 of them Ive already exlpored and run into dead ends.. so i move on rather than beating a dead horse.. That aint my style!! There are too many other things that we CAN do .. so dont like hearing what we CANT.. so thats what i focus on. so im not telling you it cant be done.. but it cant be done without someone willing to pay for the lighting changes in Corbett. ( is that better??)

The students are practically touching the players on out of bounds plays, under the basket. There were 2 security guards in the corner and I was thinking to myself "this could get ugly".

Money for recruiting , money to pay our coaches better, money to recruit more football players, money to turn the lights down.......limited resources require choice

Thanks Marketingman. That explanation was a whole lot better than just saying "theres NO way that can happen."
I think you clarified what the challenges are to getting this done. However, I personally know of several BDF-related ideas that people have said could never be done at A&T that are now currently in place.
For instance: we spoke with former AD Scandrett about doing a solid gold-like campaign at A&T back in 1999 and he basically paid us no attention whatsover.
