Since we've been talking a lot about retiring jerseys and pregame basketball intros today, I was suddenly struck with another idea. On our last home game of the season, why not formally honor our world-renowned basketball fans by retiring a #6 jersey with the words "Dawg Pound" on the back ?  The No. 6 would represent our fans, the sixth man - sorta like how Texas A&M retired the No. 12 jersey years ago. 2007 has truly been a historic year for A&T basketball, with Corbett be recgonized by ESPN as the #14 best fan environment in the nation. Retiring the No. 6 Dawg Pound jersey on our last home game would be a great gesture to cap off a magical season. Let's get this done. |

BTW: This would be a PR event that the media would eat up. ESPN might even show highlights up the presentation since it is based on the results of their online poll.

This is something that would be very easy to make happen. There is absolutley no downside.

As they say on the commercial (with the British accent), "Brilliant!".
I would get a feeler out to the local ABC(also owned by Disney) TV affiliate to see if they would cover it. They could make a big deal locally then feed the footage to ESPN. That's an easy win!!!

How long does it take to make a banner or get a jersey customize?
Do we have any department at A&T that can fast track this idea and have it done in one business day?

That is a great idea by El Presidente!!!!! That would be another reason why young men would come to A&T to play basketball!!!!!

Yeah, the words "fast track" and "A&T" should never be used in the same sentence. There is no way you can get 13 different departments on campus to agree on something that quickly.
