We got the win, over .500 in the league finally, with two big games this coming weekend but will someone get the dawg pound under some sort of control! If this game had been closer that tech could have cost us the game. I'm all for a firey crowd but use some common sense.
Damn!

That tech was all King Midas' fault. LOL!
There's no way you can play that song and not have the Dawg Pound go wild.
Seriously though, we have got to have the world's worst security detail in Corbett. There needs to be uniformed guards in front of the Dawg Pound at all times, making sure the fans stay back from the court. There's just way too much stuff going on back there.
The fans were so far out of the court during the halftime break that the FAMU players couldn't even have shootaround. Really, I love the intensity the Pound shows but its getting kind of out of hand.

The dawg pound is great, but there needs to be some leadership among the students to assist in exercising some control. Those kids were at least 8 or more feet onto the court when that technical was called. I think with planning and students cooperation, that can be easily taken care of. The athletics people may want to do the same thing that Burden or Scandrett did, and that was to move the bleachers back a row or two (add a rope or barrier). At least, that will make the distance between the floor and the opposing team a bit safer.
Game had to have looked great on TV. It was an exciting game, and I was pleased to see that the right people (best free throwers) had the ball in their hands down the stretch.

Hey. A technical was bound to happen sooner or later. I just hope no one in the adminstration over reacts and stifles the enthusiasm. I think it can be controlled without any physical barriers. The maniacs are a student organization so everything should be fine.

Not talking about a concrete barrier, but something to separate them from the floor. Enthusiasm was not stifle when athletics took measures before. The university is responsible for the safety of the fans as well as the visiting team.

I hope administration doesn't go over react also. All you need is a guard in the area with common sense who will let the kids have they're fun and one who knows when to pull in the reins..... no Barney Fifes'.... please

I used to feel the same way about security during the 80's when the basketball teams were hot and the dawg pound consisted of the football players on the front rows who were menancing to the opposing players. I even think they scared the referees.

Hey Jazz you think if we had football players on the front rows of the maniacs we might get better officiating??? We get horrible calls at home and on the road.... maybe we should play our games at a neutral site..... what do you think???

I would rather see the students get a little over excited than for them not to be excited at all. At the game last night everyone in the stands were waiting for a FAMU player to foul out so they would play that song. The FAMU team got a tech for having 6 players on the court. When FAMU's coach went out on to the court to contest the call the go or hoe sit down song was played and the students got excited and over reacted. That was the first time that has happen all season. I think they will be ok, just let the students have some fun.

I don't think anyone on this campus has ever attempted to curb student enthusiasm. It has never happened. Now to the real issue of students being on the court. I don't believe that there is any person on this board who believes that students in their excitement should go on to the court during the game. Even in Moore gym when there was SRO on the sides and ends and the noise level was so high your ears rang, students never when on the floor. The risk for some embarassing incident or the loss or forfeiture of a game would be devastating to the team and the university. We should be thinking of ideas of how to maintain that level of enthusiasm in a safe and orderly fashion. Coach Eaves was livid, because he was in crucial game at a critical time. I do believe that Mr. McCluney had spoken to the Pound before about getting on the court. He can correct me if I am mistaken.
