(10/30/07 -- FAYETTEVILLE) - A double stabbing at a historically black college has the mother of twins furious. The incident happened Monday on the North Carolina A&T University campus in Greensboro.
Dante and Demetrius Hester said gang members attacked them because of the colors they were wearing. The twins are recovering in Fayetteville.
My friends drove us to the hospital after we was up in my girl's room," Dante said. "The next thing I started bleeding too bad. I lost a lot of blood."
The brothers are freshmen at A&T.
Around 6:30 p.m. Monday, the two were stabbed after leaving the cafeteria on campus. Demetrius said he was confronted by three people, one of whom told him he couldn't wear the colors he had on.
"I had my Rocawear outfit on," Demetrius said. "It was blue, orange, red and yellow. So he got mad talking about my scarf."
The twins said the men jumped them in an area outside their dorm. During the fight, Demetrius was stabbed in his upper back and his brother was cut just above the kidneys.
"I didn't know I had got stabbed until after they had ran away," Demetrius said. "And then my brother was getting up I looked at him. His shirt was all like -- he was like, my shirt wet or something. And he looked at his shirt it was just all bloody."
Dante said he thought he saw security about ten minutes after the stabbing.
The pair rushed themselves to Moses Cone Hospital. Their mother is furious no one from the university called to tell her the twins were injured. She believes the attacks were gang-related.
"They obviously had on the wrong colors," Cheryl Hester, twins' mother, said. "I was told by security quote-unquote that they realize that there is a problem going on campus with gangs."
The university said it has no reports of gang activities on campus. Campus and Greensboro police are looking for suspects.
Meanwhile the twins are recovering at home in Fayetteville. The family is trying to decide if they'll return to A&T.
