School presidents need this kind of love for athletics and the kids who play them. He didn't just sit around, he did something! He didn't tell the district AD to do it , he did it. This article should be required reading for Dr. Battle when he arrives. AGGIE PRIDE!

I think we had a cat that had a love for athletics but didn't have any knowledge other than a casual fan's knowledge. He (or his flunkies) made hires that a casual fan would make but didn't even pass the one nostril sniff test once people with any experience took a view. I ain't naming any names but I do know I'd rather have a competent a.d. making the decisions. I don't want President Bush in the lead tank in Iraq telling people which hut to invade.

You missed my point. See App State.

No. And neither did the superintendent in the article. I'm not talking about running a program. That's what the AD is for. I'm talking about providing support, mining resources, putting feet on the ground to help Aggie Athletics. What's your point Dooms?

This is an example of what I mean about App St:
"Appalachian State took out a $10,000 advertisement in the Indianapolis Star the other day, hoping to sell its 25-7 Southern Conference season to the NCAA committee. It didn't work."
But they had the resources and the guts to do it.
