I'd be very careful about what you take from listening to this brother. Although he's very articulate and knowledgable, his theories can be very extreme and far left without justification.

well he titled it "King, Cosby and Katrina", he touched heavily on Dr. King because it was a King observance. He ripped Bill Cosby, read the other quotes from that speech Cosby made, that the press weren't putting out there and touched on Katrina. He was good, I got sheeet wrote down too but I'm in class right now so I dont have em on me but I'll get some up here

That's my problem with him, ripping the Cosby because he told the truth. It's cats like Dyson that rather see some black folk stay poor and not become self sufficient so that they can exploit them and make money off of the them. All Cosby said was get serious about life, take note to what's happening in todays world so that you won't need to rely on or have to look to the government to support you. Cosby recognized, in his own way, how young black kids are getting left behind because of their mindset and opinions of the world today. Dyson exploits comments like that to sell his books. I hope you didn't buy one.
I listened to his explaination of Konye West's comment about Bush and Katrina. He tried to deny it was harmful statement and that Konye was just saying Bush didn't care about poor people in general.
Dude in no better than anyone that looks to exploit situations and profit.

ok he told the truth and complained about somethin he does himself, you gotta hear the whole thing, the part thats thrown around the most is the we spend more on tennis shoes than on hooked on phonics, and its like he's knockin the very system he gets rich of off. i mean cosby said pretty soon in the ghetto you're gonna need a DNA card to know if you're having sex with you grandma or not. But he took it back to 1985 when Cosby got mad on Donahue because people asked him about race, he said then WHY ARE U ASKING ME? CAUSE I'M THE ONLY BLACK PERSON HERE? I REFUSE TO SPEAK ON RACE! yet he will take stabs at his own family. All poor people arent poor cause they cant read or write, its huge group called the workin poor and they are the ones who are cleaning your sheeet up, driving buses, TEACHING YOUR KIDS and he basically was saying you're poor because of this when thats not the case, GATOR, I WANNA FIND THE SPEECH FOR YOU, HOPEFULLY SOMEBODY FOUND IT FOR YOU, ITS A REASON THE EVENT WAS FULL OVER AN HOUR BEFORE AND THEY HAD A CAPACITY IN THE OVERFLOW THEATRES...and it wasn't all students

Sounds interesting! There's just something about the guy that doesn't sit well with me. It's easy to place titles on people or catogorize them and convince others of something that's not. The people you say he described as working poor makes a lot of money in some cites (New York, Chicago...) I'm sure his presentation was really good, I've heard him speak. It's just that he's full of a lot of entertaining rhetoric that I believe is only to inflame his audience.
Some call it an "Opportunist"!

Yea you not feeling him, its understandable, the only semi-disturbing thing he said was Jesse and Dr. King come from the same tree, I had to step back and analyze that one
