I'm sure you old heads are up on Pryor alot moreso than myself, but the man was a damn genious in my opinion. I heard his jokes LONG after they were originally performed, and they are still the funniest performances that I've ever heard.
My ABSOLUTE favorite is when he talked about him burning himself up doing drugs and he claimed he didn't burn himself up free-basing, he burned himself up trying to quit free-basing because he didn't have any drugs, and he tried to light his arm!

I believe it was one of my junior years at A&T, Richard Pryor came to campus and filmed a scene for a movie on campus. A picture of him appreared in the yearbook('85 - 87??).

Im part of the younger generation and although I wasn't around to see the live performances, for as much of his work that I've managed to watch and listen to, I agree that he is "The Comic"! The man was original. But whats really amazing to me is how he was jokin about things that we actually all do and can relate to in everyday life, then and now. He'll be an inspiration to anyone who dreams of being a comedian.
I loved all of his jokes but the two that stick out for me is the one about when he was having a heart attack and tried to pray to God behind his heart's back! The other was when he was a wino talking to Dracula! Straight hilarious!

to me, his lasting legacy is the number of comedians that credit him as their inspiration and the person they modeled themselves after, both black and white.
the bit about him killing the car was straight ridiculous.
