Tonight I'm going to check out Dave Brubeck and the Ramsey Lewis Trio at Chastain Park here in the ATL for you jazz heads out there. But I picked up the Lost Lonely Boys last week and I love it.

If you like jazz, funk, R&B, or rock, try the new Marcus Miller (Silver Rain). Very good in covering all of the areas mentioned.

Also, I picked up The Isley Bros. (Taken to the next phase), I couldn't believe it.... They have taken some of their older songs and jazzed, rapped, and funked them up.
GREAT CD!!

I'm a classic smooth jazz, R&B and house music (60's,70's, and 80's the best ), and a Vegas lounge lizard. Grover Washington, Ronnie Laws, EWF, old Isley Brothers,Johnny Mathis, Alex Buyon to name a small few.
Telling my age now.

If you like female jazz vocals, pick up the new Liz Wright CD, it's hot. If you had not heard her first CD(Salt), it's hot also.

N'Klabe and Tabaco y Ron [Paquete Salsera] are both good if you're into salsa.
90A, hold on a sec and I'll give you a reggae line-up to check out....

Dreaming Wide Awake, is a real good follow-up. "Stop" and "I'm Confessing" are so HOT!!!! Anything by Dianne Reeves, Nina Simone (thanks el Presidente ) and Cassandra Wilson is good, too.

Hey yall, dunno if anybody else got this, but it just came into my email. Since we're on the subject of music, here's some of our own. I actually remember most of these cats because they were around/in the band in some form or fashion when I marched. Have a look see..... [glow=blue,2,300]-----------------------------------------[/glow] Do you know what time it is?.... Yes, it's time for 5 A.M. Five a.m. It’s the perfect time for love, and the five-member group is creating the mood through music. With the proliferation of male groups on the scene, 5AM makes a unique statement through their vibrant vocals and pure harmonic styling. This ensemble is rich with diversity and lyrical texture. Alvis Bouldin, Kiplon Boyce, Howard Jones, James Noble, and Anthony Criss formed the group while all attending North Carolina A&T University. As Criss tells it, “ Three of us were line brothers in a music fraternity.” It used to be six of us and then there were five. We’d heard about an upcoming talent show and put the group together to perform in the show. The newly formed group started gaining momentum in the area and performing locally.” The more we did, the more we realized that this was what we wanted to do.” Comparable to R&B groups of the 60’s and 70’s, 5AM was founded on pure vocal talent and skill. ”Back in the days, a group had to really be able to sing.” It’s their commitment to excellence in their craft that makes their sound much more than the usual. These energetic young artists know how to entertain. With a show packed with smooth moves and sensational vocals, they deliver the goods with a freshness seldom displayed on today’s music scene. Their sound has been described as a “ Take 6 vocal harmony with a Hip-Hop feel.” It’s their signature sound that has generated continuous appearances with artist like Mary J. Blige, Mario, and Brain McKnight. They have also been the opening act for R. Kelly. 5AM is already proving they’re planning to raise the standard in the entertainment industry. With their versatility, 5AM has combined each member’s individuality into a unified group with genuine talent. From Gospel roots to a love for Jazz, their musical horizon is unlimited. 5AM is not just interested in making hit songs for today, but creating songs that you want to hear 40 or 50 years from now. www.longevityrecords.com/sections/5am.htm

For a wide variety of musical flavors, check out A&T's 90.1 WNAA online at wnaalive.ncat.edu/wnaa/newwnaa.htmlFrom Jill Scott to Zap Mama to Smokie Norful and Bob Marley. NC A&T's broadcast voice is a great musical choice.

I didn't know that these cats were still singing. I saw Ant a couple of months ago at a happy hour. This is good, I'll check them out.
