Two Aggies make NFCA All-Academic team
GREENSBORO, N.C., November 29, 2007 – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its annual All-Academic team members based on grade point averages submitted from the 2006-2007 academic year. Two Aggie softball players made the list. Junior Britney Hodges made the list for the second straight season, while sophomore Bianca Alsobrook earned her first NFCA academic honor.
“Both of those young ladies give maximum effort in the classroom and on the field,’’ said N.C. A&T head coach Mamie Jones. “It is always good when our players earn positive national recognition, whether on the field or off it.”
Hodges, who majors in social work, has been recognized as a North Carolina A&T scholar athlete since her arrival. She has also made the MEAC all-academic team and the Dean’s lists Hodges holds a 3.87 GPA. She has also made strides on the softball field. Last season, she started 15 games and batted a career-high .273. Alsobrook is a political science major out of Robbins, N.C. She holds an approximate 3.5 GPA. During her freshman season, Alsobrook made 14 appearances as a hitter and three appearances on the mound, including one start.
As a team, the Aggies placed 84th in the nation in GPA among Division I schools with a team GPA of 3.05. The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) is the professional growth organization for fastpitch softball coaches from all competitive levels of play.
