1st I thought Paul Johnson was the going to get the award by attempting that fake punt early in the fourth qtr at his 35 with the score tied, but clearly Dave Wannstedt is this weeks recipient by going for a touchdown on fourth down when a chip-shot field goal would have forced another overtime.
What award you ask: The Dumb A$$ Coach of the Week Award.

I would have gone for 4th down too but I would have tried to roll out or run it straight down the gutt. They had the ball 2nd and goal at the 2 and couldn't get in with average line 60-70 lbs heavier than Navy

What's wrong with going for the win! Was the USC coach doom when they went for the first down rather than punt to Texas?
It's philosophy some coachs have adopted, go for the win when in position. Obviously, one has to deal with the conciquences (loss, loss of job) too.
:-) I wouldn't call the man dumb.

Because Pitt had the ball 1st and goal at the 5, and couldn't get a TD on the three previous plays, but suddenly you have momentum on 4th down. In that situation you take what you can get and keep the fight going.
Absolutely dumb, gutsy, but dumb!!

In college, you go for the field goal... no sudden death. In the pros, you saddle up and go for the win.
