I think the thing is when we were back in the MEAC every game was almost a sellout and the students were coming in the mass as of the last few years. My nephew is a junior there and he's told me that he doesn't go to the games anymore because the team is losing and he doesn't know anything about the other teams When was that. I missed this era, LOL

None one has said(from what I saw) that its 2 things when it comes to fans. Its always been these 2 things.
1) Black culture. I dont need to elaborate much. I'll let the delusion kats tell me I'm wrong for that statement. 2) Black culture, LOL

But to be honest, you had too many points. Its simply your first one. Aside from winning more, the rest fall under Black Culture. Side note - Why do black people all of a sudden know the assignment at their favorite NFL team's game??

For me it's more Regional Football Fan Participation Culture because in the Deep South especially with fan engagement, it is a lot more animated than in the Southeast and North Regions. Even at the high school levels you can see the difference.

Do the top SWAC teams have problems with fan engagement at football games?

Define top BT? You mean programs that the football teams are in the thick of it each year? Cause Jackson was trash for years prior to Prime and their attendance was still high. Now, down there classics are really big and what they refer to as House (engaged in the band's performance) is talked about a lot.
I've gone to a few Southern Heritage Classics when I lived in Memphis and I don't recall gameday experiences being events per se. But they were packed. So, I don't know if fan engagement is a problem. I know that their fans aren't any more knowledgeable than ours but they are loud tho.

I dont think a packed stadium or big time Classic is ever an issue. Homecoming crowds and Aggie/Eagle classics when competitive are not crowd problems. I think what's being discussed is that crowd in the 11-15K range. Those can really be dead at not just A&T, but HBCU games in general.

Do the top SWAC teams have problems with fan engagement at football games? If not a Classic or homecoming, yes they do. Same energy. Watch a SWAC game on TV. Dead dead

I say this almost every year and I guess I'll just keep saying it. A&T needs a seating chart based on the expected game attendance. They need at least 3 types of game seating charts and ticket sells specific to the type AND size of crowd we expect.. Type 1) Homecoming/NCCU/Winston - Obviously no need to change ticket sells for those games. They are well attended and the atmosphere is generally hype. I still think homecoming should sell more reserves and not have so much general admission seating. Let me clarify that I dont mean gouging the prices, but just raise them slightly for a "homecoming reserve"(sections D1 and D3 on the visitor side maybe or section Y on the home side). Type 2) First Home game (14-18K) - This is generally the 3rd best attended game of the year if it's not against NCCU or Winston. Come up with something to maximize crowd participation and revenue. Maybe close down the edge of the stadium toward the scoreboard end(sections A and Z) to squeeze the crowd closer together. Pro stadiums and concerts do it all the time. Type 3) PWI game or expected attendance(less than 14K) - - See Type #2 - Closing down the edge of the stadium toward the scoreboard(sections A and Z). It's rarely anyone there anyway when the stadium isn't full.
- The visitor side reserves should be made smaller by at least half(top or bottom). The rest should open up to General Admission. Of course that would mean only selling half of visitor side season tickets initially, which is what happens by default regardless I think.
- Decrease in price of general admission
And lastly - The ENTIRE stadium should have a seating chart made like the reserves do. This would allow for the above things to be done a lot easier. Of course those are just things off the dome, but someone at A&T should be able to come up with a creative set of seating charts and prices to make the environment a little better based on the game. Other schools and even pro venues do this all the time. Why do you think the Panthers drape off the upper level of their stadium for "lesser" games. Pro Wrestling does it very well. Something other than just "Try and sellout every game with our own fans". That's not really feasible and never has been.

Really like the seating chart types. Do we have an automated ticketing system? Otherwise, this will be a mess to manage.

You said Black Culture. That's why I stated that it's a regional thing when it comes to engaged football fan base Black Culture. That's why I distinguished between the North, Southeast and Deep south . We're saying the same thing.
