A&T has a chance to become the premiere athletics environment and fanbase in the CAA. Can we do it is the question. that "should not" be our goal cuz we were already there "day 1" that a&t joined the caa. since when has "athletics environment and fanbase" become a higher priority than "winning"? who cares if we have the best "athletics environment and fanbase" if we're not winning "jack"! is that suppose to be like a "consolation prize"? i mean, instead of worrying about being the premiere athletics environment and fanbase, shouldn't our top priority be to become the premiere athletics department in the conference? true story, there was a time when my wnba dc mystics led the wnba in "attendance" several years in a row but was also among the worst teams in the wnba. nonetheless, these folk hung a "banner" in capitol one arena in recognition of leading the wnba in "attendance" but most of the fans were embarrassed by it. basically the mystics were saying, since we "stink" on the basketball court, let's "pacify" our fans by hanging an attendance banner. so you seem to be of the same "mentality". basically you're saying that since we can't win "jack" in the conference, let's celebrate being the best athletics environment and fanbase despite being a "bottom feeder" in the conference. man, some of us need to re-evaluate our "priorities"... You're very "off base" right now. I do not feel such a way.

Westcoast, you have previously stated that A&T football fans should just be prepared to struggle for several years and that many of our expectations were unrealistic.

A&T's fan base is has never been engaged or animated not since the days of War Memorial Stadium. I don't even see why this is a conversation after really thinking about it. The priority of putting butts in seats is the main priority and that has been met. Getting a wine and cheese crown to be a Mad Dog and Thunderbird crowd are two different conversations. It's not going to happen. But I will say this if the band will get involved chanting for the defense the fan base will follow because at this point the fan base will look to the band for enthusiasm and engagement before they will look to the cheerleaders and random fans starting a chant in the stands. I remember when my son was at Michigan one game they were getting drove by Ohio State and then the band starts standing and chanting defense defense and the crowd became alive and followed . I don't know if this will work at A&T but it can't hurt to try. That is if the band and it's director will cooperate.

Ww have been "wine and cheese" every since my first game at 10 years old. I had never seen so many Negroes smiling and styling in my life. 36,000 packed into Memorial Stadium. Seemed like everybody had a suit and tie on (including my dad).

Bring back the cow bells! If you go back and watch some games during the Cohen era you can hear them loud and clear!

It's Weired. That Student Athlete mentioned the crowd while playing away Games. And it made me reflect. "I like being with Aggies at Away Games". Like at UNC-C or @ Duke ( when Ja Broke one for a TD).
Back to the 'Tru. Man. Our Stadium has so much potential, it's not even funny. The TV's, Signage potential ect. Shoot, let a Hype Man with a Mic get some action with the commercials and The B&GMM mix.

totally agreed we are "wine and cheese". but nobody can tell me that when we have a large crowd (rival games, ghoe, 15k plus) and the football team is "winning", that after we score a touchdown and the pa announcer says, "can i get an aggie pride!" that our crowd usually responds with an "aggie pride" that's so loud you can almost hear an echo!
so overall, "wine and cheese" is true. but when we have a winning team that gives us reasons to be excited, not too many fcs schools (especially not fcs pwc's) are "louder" than a well deserved "aggie pride" response from our crowd. and i'd even say less than 5 hbcu's anywhere in the country can top that, if that many...

You TOTALLY missed the point. how so? The issue ain't when something exciting happens. Virtually ALL fans cheer loud during/after things exciting happening. The crowd engagement issue is more about making noise when the other team is trying to make a 1st down at 3rd or 4th down. Even better is to be make noise on any down that the other team has the ball so they can't hear before plays are run (sometimes causes false starts, etc.) . And real fan engagement/understanding recognizes the need to be quiet (not cheer) when their team has the ball until the ball is snapped or when a big play is happening. One example of this is NDSU. They make a lot of noise when the other team has the ball and you can almost hear a "pin drop" when they have the ball.
