Reid and one of the Taylor kids advanced in the 400 hurdles. The other Taylor kid was bumped by 0.01 sec.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 22, 2024) – It was a strong opening day for CAA men’s track and field athletes at the NCAA East Region Preliminaries as 12 advanced to the final round across five different events.

North Carolina A&T had three athletes advance to the final round in the 110 meter hurdles as Thomas Smith placed fourth (13.62), Jason Holmes was 11th (13.72) and Aveon Reid was 13th (13.82).

Campbell had a pair of athletes move on in the 100 meters as Jamal Milller placed sixth (10.29) and Dominique Alexander finished 17th (10.40).

Two CAA athletes reached the finals in the 400 meters as Jamel Miller finished 10th (46.07) and Stony Brook’s George Franks was 12th (46.11).

Both CAA participants in the 800 meters moved to the finals as Northeastern’s Kerem Ayhan placed fifth (1:47.82) and Hampton’s Dugion Blackman was 11th (1:48.15).

A trio of CAA athletes advanced to the finals in the 400 meter hurdles as North Carolina A&T’s Aveon Reid was 10th (51.01), North Carolina A&T’s Xzaviah Taylor placed 16th (51.20) and UNCW’s Josh Parks finished 18th (51.21).

The CAA women’s track and field athletes start their competition on Thursday.
