That was poor scheduling. Did absolutely nothing to benefit our program in the long or short term.
Just eroded what little confidence the pitching staff had left.

Final
WF 24 Aggies 7
We have miles to travel before we are competitive on that level, & a great distance to travel if we are to be competitive in the CAA.
Our pitchers just aren’t D1 material. We need to go to Puerto Rico, the DR, Curaçao, Venezuela, SOMEWHERE & bring some help in!

wow, that's an "ugly" loss. looks like a football score rather than a baseball score...

I’d be happy if we held them to a 24-7 score in August.

The Aggie bullpen blew a 6-1 lead & gave up 7 runs in the last 3 innings to give Elon the 8-6 win.
Elon pitching coach Jamie Serber gets the game ball. Why?BECAUSE HE IS THE ONE WHO RECRUITED & BROUGHT THESE JV PITCHERS TO GREENSBORO!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all of those moms out there! A special prayer was offered this morning for those of us whose mothers, grandmothers, and aunties who served as bonus moms are no longer with us in the earthly realm, but are watching over us along with the ancestors in the spiritual realm.
Much to my disappointment, but not to my amazement nor disbelief, Elon jumped on our batting practice pitchers in the first inning, plating 5 runs on TWO home runs!
Our starting pitcher (Brewington) didn't get out of the first inning, surrendering 3 runs in one-third of an inning, including a first pitch, leadoff HOME RUN. Then, our standard opposing team batting practice pitcher (Delisi) was promptly greeted by a 2-run homerun. You knew it was going to be bad when he came trotting out there to pitch and our announcers gave up his stats-ERA of near 10.00, and his struggles this season. Realistically, he's struggled since he arrived on campus a few seasons ago. We looked up his info, and before he transferred to D1 North Carolina A&T to throw batting practice during games, dude was 0 and 5 for D2 King College with an ERA of over 7. SOMEHOW, our coaching staff felt that he was D1 material. That's why I suggested that the game ball from yesterday's game go to Elon Pitching Coach Serber, who is/was responsible for bringing our VERY BAD pitching staff into town when he was our pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.
SMH.
This game could get VERY ugly VERY fast, just like the UNC-W, Davidson, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest games.
I will offer some sincere prayers this evening for us to receive some legit pitching and extra-base hitting power in the offseason. We cannot nor will not be competitive in the CAA with dudes who only played 1 season of varsity high school baseball and/or who played for a D3 JuCo (yes, there are different levels to JuCo athetics!). And to think that I was offended when the "expert prognosticators" picked us to finish 10th. If we keep this up and lose today, Elon will leapfrog us at the 10th spot and we'll be 11th!
Father, help us!

UPDATE:
Elon's pitcher is quite the athlete and is hitting for himself. He helped his own cause by taking a batting practice fastball from Jake Delisi to Lindsay Street for a 3-run home run to make it 8-0.
Then, 22 seconds later, the next batter took another Jake Delisi batting practice fastball to the same location on Lindsay Street for a solo homerun to make it 9-0 Elon in the top of the 2nd inning.
You can't make this up.

UPDATE:
I think that Delisi has finally lost the confidence of Hall (his teammates lost confidence in his A LONG TIME AGO, and that's coming from RELIABLE sources within the dugout!) and has been replaced by transfer Diego Barrett who is just as bad as Delisi. He too is a JuCo transfer with a fastball in the low-mid 80's who somehow was declared a D1 prospect by Serber and recruited into A&T.
Don't believe me?
Aside from looking him up for yourselves, consider that he began the season as our #2 starter and has since been demoted to mop-up bullpen duty.
You can't make this stuff up.
Elon 10 A&T 0 top of the 3rd inning

UPDATE:
Tre Williams launched a 3-run homerun in the bottom of the third inning to narrow the score to 10-3 in the bottom of the 3rd inning. As he rounded the bases, he and the Elon pitcher exchanged words, and the umpire WARNED A&T.
Two pitches later, the Elon pitcher, who has exhibited extreme command and control, plunked the next batter.
Unwritten rules of baseball in effect.
But...After Elon launched homeruns all weekend and chirped from their dugout ALL WEEKEND, not ONE retaliation pitch was thrown by our middle school hurlers. As opposing announcers like to say, "their lack of velocity" wouldn't have sent the desired message anyway.
You can't make this up.
The disrespect is real, and I hope the boys have long memories once they can get some legit arms and hitters in here.

UPDATE:
Headed into the top of the 8th inning:
Elon 14 Aggies 9
That 5-run hole Brewington & Delisi dug for us comes back to haunt...Senior Day or not, I wouldn't have given EITHER the baseball given their egregious and obvious ineffectiveness and struggles not only this season, but since they've been on campus.
Play to win the game, coach.

UPDATE:
Bottom of the 8th
Elon 17 Aggies 9
I'm unsure if this is an official stat that is kept, but I do believe that our pitching staff has given up 10+ runs in more than half of our total games played this season.

How many current pitchers on the staff do you anticipate that we bring back next year?
