Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies
Required Competency Communication
Duties
Manages A&T’s internal communications to ensure proper and timely dissemination of information; maintaining the department’s communications with university relations; writing of daily and weekly email distribution of news; writing bios for more than 250 student athletes; creating and writing press releases; creating and producing media guides, game day books, game day programs, roster cards, schedule cards, season ticket cards, posters and other required publications; create and email post-game recaps both for www.ncataggies.com and to designated A&T Athletics distribution lists in a timely manner; editing content to make sure it is precise, it is clean of typos and grammar errors, it is subjective and it is written in Associate Press style; write feature stories to run on various websites and publications.
Required Competency Organizational Sensitivity
Duties
Oversight of team player statistics and providing data to the appropriate outlets; overseeing the media accreditation process for A&T, the opposing teams, scouts, media, and other approved guests; provide necessary information for each game (roster, injuries, player bios/stats); nominate athletes for various awards and acknowledgements such as player of the week, player of the year,
All-American, and other pertinent accolades; follows and understands NCAA rules and is willing to ask the compliance director for direction and guidance
Required Competency Consulting/Advising
Duties
Generate new story ideas for local, national, and international press; make appropriate social media posts for the Athletics department as determined by university policy; file any photographs, video, blogs, video journals, etc.
