The top 4 MBB schools are non-football schools. This is not that surprising given the amount of money they put into their MBB program and coaches. These schools keep winning the championship. Should we ever expect to win a CAA championship or get an NCAA bid since normally the CAA only gets 1 bid.
We need to stop comparing WBB performance against MBB because the men's path to a conference championship is much difficult due to the non-football schools. Coach Ross performance does not need to be compared to Coach Rob. Coach Ross long term goal should be to consistently crack the CAA MBB top 5 in my opinion. Short term goal is to actually sign some talented players 6'10 or taller. We are loaded at guard spot so that can't be a priority even if we need to upgrade the position.

Yes, we should expect to win CAA ships & get NCAA bids...competing against non-football schools or not. And I'm 100% sure our leadership (Dr. Martin, Earl Hilton & Coach Ross) expect the same. As a matter of recent fact, Coach Ross got on the mic after our last men's home game and promised hanging a CAA ship banner.

PlanO quit making excuses. Not making excuses. Just keeping it real with my expectations and hope that others do as well. If you are not heavily investing financially in a sport it is hard to win a championship let alone compete at a high level. We invest way more in football than basketball so Coach Brown is under the gun way more than Coach Ross even though they both are rebuilding their respective program. These non-football schools are not going to lay down and give the championship trophy to the football schools. Facts are facts. They have own the MBB Championship and conference the past few years.

I am pretty sure he said that at his last CAA school he was HC. Ross is going to have to really out recruit these non-football schools with less money to win a championship. Now if the leadership has promises to pump more money in the MBB program to match those high goals then I am with you and coach all the way. I want a championship.

found this info on the internet for what its worth. here are the caa men's basketball champions over the last 10 years. so planoaggie makes a plausible point. non-football playing schools won 8 out of the last 10 championships and the only football playing school that won a championship during that time was delaware who won it twice but is leaving the caa for the fbs level...

thanks, but i already found what i was looking for. however, this info also re-enforces planoaggie's point. and it also shows that our very own coach ross was the last head coach from a football playing school to win a regular season and tournament championship in men's basketball...

With the right coaches recruiting and developing the players, we should be able to win conference championship. And that should be the coach's goal and our expectation. I'm not saying we win every season but we should be close every season. I think we have the right men's and women's basketball coach in place to do just that. Now they both have to continue to recruit and develop the talent.

I beleive if we can successfully deal with NIL/Transfer portal Coach Ross will win a CAA Championship....and it may not take very long.
If he gets all his key players back plus add a couple other pieces we may see this program step up next season!
