The two teams are probably very close in how good they are, but Stony Brook probably got the edge today due to playing at home. They are undefeated at home and played only one game there where they did not win by double digits. Their only loss at home was against Towson in OT Stony Brook has a NET ranking in the Top 70…and they have a three headed monster in Gonzalez, Clark, and Pittman… We didn’t take advantage when the top 2 scorers were in foul trouble in the first half. I think we can beat them but we got a lot to clean up. Getting a 2 or 3 seed is KEY though for us. Rather play Monmouth in the semis and not them.

I expect you'll find that the 2 foul 1st half sit comes out better than 3 foul sit. I would rather have my horses in the second half and take the chance on being able to stay within striking distance in the 1st half, which we were (8). We, actually, got their lead down to 5 with under 3 in the 3rd qtr but just couldn't get a stop or over the hump with our own made baskets. Right, being within 8 points at halftime with Dorsey checking out halfway through 1st qtr and Clark missing most of the 2nd qtr, was actually great job by ladies since SBU has all there horses the entire game. Taking nothing away from SBU, they are a legit midmajor D1 program, it was obvious to see in their play, but limited how the other team plays defensively doesn't help, they were 3 or 4 legit Ricky tack fouls on SBU entry passes that were just ridiculous. Not to mention the awful charge call on Tucker when she clearly went vertical on drive attempt but still got pinned with offensive foul. You could tell officials knee they blew that call because you had a immediate even worse call (makeup) on other end against SBU. But again I know you have to adjust to hiw a game is officiated each time out bit it appears down the stretch there have been a ton more whistles against the Aggies than our opponents. Its super tough to change your style of play after playin 80% of your schedule, which looks like what we'll be rquires to do. I mean geez today not only did SBU make more FT than we attempted, 1 player from SBU, Pittman, shot 15 FT herself, same as entire Lady Aggie team. I know this sounds like spur grapes but just would have liked to seen hiw game played out if being called like the rest of the season has been before last couple weeks. Again, I will say, we will win the one that counts. I understand what is being said ,but I see it this way . A team can't change there identity and style of play to accommodate the referees. As my father would say " you don't worry about the ref, you play your style and execute and not make mistakes against your opponent, your focus is on that team you let the coaches and fans handle and work the referees. You can't let the referees get in your head because then you'll be playing against your opponent and also the referees". As far as Dorsey is concerned. I don't know if she is injured or playing through some type of nagging injury. Dorsey has not been shut down as someone stated but Dorsey has changed her playing style from the aggressive attacking player that she used to be. This could be by Design by coach Rob to help build confidence among the other players, which is a good thing to save her for the tournament, but it's not working for me. Also no coach will advise his team to accommodate the referees or change his teams playing style too accommodate the referees. A Team's Style is what sets them apart from their competition.

I hope, trust, and pray that we get one of the byes into the quarterfinals. WHEN we do, I'm gonna need:
1) Clark to STOP jacking up 3's with 20 seconds on the shot clock. Actually, STOP jacking up 3's, period. 2) Clark to STOP missing shots/putbacks 3 inches from the basket/rim. She's looking like Murphy out there at times. 3) Bracone to be very judicious with her shot selection. Ain't nothing wrong with an extra look for the higher percentage shot if you're 1-11 from 3. 4) Our team to to STOP with the lazy passes. Stony Brook outhustled us and took advantage of low-velocity passes in the passing lanes and "got eeem." 5) Our team to understand the concept of boxing out and getting offensive boards for clock reset and defensive boards for possession. We have Baby Shaq, Acox, Davis and Locke who can get it done.
We do these 5 things, and we're playing post-season basketball.

it was a "horribly" called game, you could hardly breathe on someone without being called for a foul. too many "quick whistles" for little to no contact and it ruined the game for our ladies. i mean, pittman is a good player but several times we got called for fouling her when we barely touched her or didn't touch her at all.
that's why so many players were in "foul trouble" and it significantly changed the game. i was very frustrated by the ref's, it was like walking on egg shells in that game. the ref's took our "aggressiveness' away early in the game, so we had to play "soft" on defense cuz the ref's would call a foul on us just for breathing on a sb player, especially pittman. she's a good player but a lot of the fouls called against us on her "was not" legit.
i believe that our ladies can beat sb, but not if the ref's blow the whistle every time we breathe on somebody...

Stony Brook’s top 2 scorers were in foul trouble as well. We needed to be more aggressive offensively as well. And at times, we went away from that. Shows the depth of Stony Brook really…

Shows the depth of Stony Brook really… oh, i'm not taking anything away from sb, indeed they are a very good team. but i still say that we can beat them. i mean, dorsey and bracone only played about "half" of the game and "both" of them wound up fouling out. dorsey is our best player, she's the head of the snake for us. you take her outta the game and/or put her in foul trouble "early" in the game (which made her play very "tentative" cuz she knew she couldn't foul nobody), that severely hurts our team (especially on the road). everyone of our starters had 3 or more fouls for the game. guess how many fouls pittman had? pittman had just "1" friggin' foul for the entire game!! so pittman played the entire game with "zero" fear of fouling out, so she could be aggressive. meanwhile, all of our starters were in foul trouble, so we played "soft defense" against pittman. no wonder pittman score 30 points, almost half of her points came from the doggone free throw line. sb had 17 "total" team fouls for the game, we had "23" and 20 of our team fouls were called against our "starters". man, coach rob has a lot more "composure" than me. i would've blown a doggone gasket during that game because of the ref's had i been coach rob. but if we play sb in the tourney, i believe we will beat them "if" we have better officials next time...
