Coach Pat Bibbs addressed the Greensboro Chapter last night about the women's basketball program and to say the least she is extremely knowledgeable, hard worker, a great coach, teacher and tremendous recruiter, personable, passionate, has embraced A&T with both arms, and should get this program up and winning in a relatively short period of time that will surprise Aggie Fans.
She has seven key returnees and she has added eight recruits of her own that will make this year's team really competitive despitye the toughest schedule ever for women's basketball.

Was there anymore?
I heard something about quality transfers from other schools.
Did she talk about her coaching philosophy or what she plans to do differently?

Her philosophy is up tempo, run every chance we get, pressure defense all over the floor. Our girls have bought into her system. They are now in the weight room on a strength regiment to build their endurance ( first time I ever seen that). She expects them to conduct themselves as ladies on and off the court and will treat them no different than her own kids. Firm but fair.
The girls and her are really bonding quickly. She said she has some good talent already here just not enough number wise so she has brought in eight players of her own.
One of the best players in all of women's high school basketball in 2004 was 5-10 Parade All-America shooting guard Amber Bland from Penn State. Bland was Miss Basketball in the State of Ohio and averaged 31 points a game, and broke nearly every scoring record ever heard of, including 51 in one game. She decided to leave after Penn State's coach went nuts and so did a lot of other players from that program. She is now an Aggie.
Also Tiffany Williams a 6-1 power starting forward from Fresno State has come in as well, a true power post player. Bibbs also has brought in a 6-3 center she is very high on and a lot of North Carolina girls to establish her recruiting base.
Coach Gibbs is tough and a competitor but her temperment is that of mother and a teacher but not a win at all cost drama queen like the last two coaches we've had. She is probably a year away from having all the pieces she needs but we'll be in the thick of the MEAC race this season for sure.
She has a certain quality about her that is charismatic and optimistic. We got ourselves a special coach here.

Won't Bland and Williams have to sit out a year under NCAA transfer rules?

Won't Bland and Williams have to sit out a year under NCAA transfer rules? Same question and how many of the other new players are transfers?

Bland receives release from PSU -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Penn State Sports Information
Freshman guard Amber Bland (Boardman, Ohio) has asked for and received her release from the Penn State women's basketball program. Bland, who received the release on Monday, is now permitted to communicate with other institutions regarding a transfer.
Bland requested and received the release despite signing her grant-in-aid renewal form at the end of April and pre-registering for summer and fall classes.
"I am disappointed that Amber has chosen not to return," said Lady Lion head coach Rene Portland. "I certainly expected her to contribute this season, but we have a strong incoming class that will have an immediate chance to play a major role."
Bland appeared in 29 contests during the 2004-05 season, starting one game and averaging 3.5 ppg and 2.5 rpg in 13.8 minutes per game.

Williams should eligible after Christmas. Bland has her case before the NCAA to allow her to play immediately because the Penn State coach pulled her scholarship, then re-instated it, and pulled it again after renewal. Her contention would be that under the rules when a scholarship is pulled, the student is a "free agent", in that she is no longer part of any athletic program and an ordinary student and not obligated by the redshirt transfer rule.
This could go either way and there are precedent cases to support her contention.
